moderates & radicals in islam & the left

the core strategic problem we face is two conflicts with two ideologies that operate subversively until they are in power. That is, instead of stating their agenda openly, Islam and the left operate as false fronts maintaining a friendly moderate image while pursuing a far more radical agenda.
The distinction between moderates and radicals is at the heart of the debate about Islamic terrorism. Much as it used to be at the heart of the debate about Communism and its fellow travelers. Everyone will concede that there are indeed radicals, if only ISIS and Stalin. What they will deny is the extent of the complicity and, more significantly, the fact that the radicals were pursuing the same ends as the moderates, an Islamic Caliphate or a Communist dictatorship, only more rapidly and ruthlessly.
The thing that must be understood is that moderates do not disavow radicals. Rather they bridge the gap between the radicals and the larger society, justifying their ends, and eventually their means, while pretending to disavow them. Radicals reject any dialogue. Moderates emphasize dialogue.
Moderates will verbally reject the means with which an end is pursued. Accordingly they will reject terrorism. They may even claim to reject the ends, such as an ideological dictatorship, but they will, in good fellowship, ask you to accept their premise which inevitably leads to the acceptance of both the ends and the means.
For example, moderates on the left and in Islam will ask you to accept that terrorism is caused by American foreign policy. Once you have accepted this premise, then you have partially justified terrorism and paved the way for accepting an "Arab Spring" that eliminates the consequences of American foreign policy by properly Arabizing and Islamizing the governments of the region.
Likewise, if you accept the premise that Israel's presence in its '67 territories is driving terrorism, then you have signed on to everything from BDS to the destruction of the Jewish State.
If you concede that crime and violence are driven by class and racial inequities, then you accept that the only way to end this "class war" is massive taxation and wealth redistribution through government intervention that addresses the root cause.
That is not the way it seems to most people. And that is why the "moderate" strategy works so well.
Once you have accepted the moderate definition of the root cause, you will inevitably be forced to accept the radical remedy. This is true across a spectrum of lower level policies. For example, accept that homosexuality is genetic and gay rights become the inevitable and inescapable outcome. That is how the root cause defines the outcome. And this is how moderates achieve radical goals.
Moderates convince you to accept their premise of the root cause. Then they argue for sensitivity to the radicals whose motives have suddenly become understandable. Finally they argue for a settlement in which a compromise is reached that will allow the radicals to achieve a moderate version of their ends.
The Muslim Brotherhood takeovers of the Arab Spring are an example of a compromise to avert Islamic terror aimed at creating a Caliphate. The ultimate outcome is the same, but the moderates dress it up as a kinder and gentler alternative.
And this is the core strategic problem that we face.
The radicals are not any kind of serious physical threat. We could destroy ISIS easily if we chose to unleash our full force against them. The same is true for every single Islamic terror group in the world. And, for that matter, their state sponsors too.
The real threat is always the subversion of the moderates. The challenge then becomes the need to expose the false facade of the moderates. This leads to a push-pull struggle. The moderates cry that they are being unfairly victimized by hateful people. There are shouts of red-baiting and McCarthyism, profiling and bigotry. Their critics are paranoid and unhinged. The moderates even assert that there is something ugly and "Un-American" about asking them to account for their agenda.
And this is really the core argument made by the two allied subversive ideologies. It is "ugly" to expose their views, to quote them, to bring them to the surface. It is intolerant. It's not the way that respectable people should behave. And the moderates, who pose as respectable people precisely to play on the weakness of the middle class for being respectable, understand that this is the ultimate weapon.
Respectable people do not accuse the friendly Imam on the block of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood or promoting Jihadist texts. They do not accuse the cheerful teacher in the school whom everyone likes of pushing anti-American views on her students. That is not respectable behavior.
And moderates, who pretend to be respectable, excel at pushing the respectable shame button.
It doesn't matter if it's true. It's ugly to discuss it. That is respectability simplified. It's much better to talk about how much we have in common, to speak about how we can unite and make the world a better place. And the moderates have plenty of ideas in that regard. All of them involve accepting their premise of what the world's problems are and how they can be improved by a series of proposals that would culminate with mass tyranny and murder.
There are actual moderates of course.
The majority of those on the left aren't harboring secret plans to build gulags. They would find the idea horrifying. Likewise many Muslims in Western countries don't support Islamic terrorism.
They are moderates, but only in the sense that they have not yet signed on to radical ideas. Not in the sense that they would fight and oppose them to their very last breath. They are mostly moderates out of a lack of conviction rather than a surplus of it.
Subversive organizations operate through incremental radicalization. The average American liberal of twenty years ago would not have supported half of what he vocally advocates for today. Even Obama and Hillary were against gay marriage when they ran for office. In a few years they moved from opposing a policy to threatening to prosecute those opposed to it. That is how the left works.
Obama and Hillary always had a consistent position. The leadership of the left had one. It was the ordinary rank and file liberal who might have been in the dark until the whistle was blown and the herd stampeded toward the next policy abyss. A year ago those same liberals might have felt uncomfortable with the notion of men using the ladies room. Today they would fight a civil war for it.
The process operates the same way across a spectrum of policies. The left keeps its more moderate followers in the dark about its real goals. Then once the stampede begins, the moderates who derive their sense that they are good people from following the ideas of the left, quickly fall in line.
The same is true of Islam. Plenty of Muslims would not be happy with an immediate transition to ISIS. But plenty are willing to back the more incremental attempts to build a Caliphate through political Islam in Turkey or through the Muslim Brotherhood. Their moderation, like that of many Germans in WW2, consists of an unwillingness to know what dirty deeds are being done.
The moderates bridge this gap both for their rank and file, and for the outsiders who have to be fooled into accepting their premise in order to accept their ends. Their greatest weapon is respectability. When cornered, they insist that they are just nice people who want to make the world a better place. And their critics are bigots, nasty people, who don't want everyone to get along and spread disunity.
And doesn't everyone just want to get along? Isn't that nicer and better? Isn't it a good thing that there are passionate young people who want to make the world a better place?
The chief ally of the moderates is this sort of middle class respectability. The moderates paint their critics as radicals who have no solutions. When in fact they themselves are radicals with a final solution. And yet combating this sort of happy talk remains our greatest challenge.
Yet it is also a passing challenge.
Middle class respectability is a function of a sense of security. When that sense of security begins to implode as a society experiences chaos, the middle class stops clinging to respectability.
And then the real conflict begins.
We may well be approaching that phase. Economic decline and Islamic terror are leading to a radical break with respectability. We are entering a radical age in which the moderates take off their masks and radicals of various stripes gain great influence and openly recruit for their cause.
This will be a shattering experience for many. It will be a very ugly one in many ways. And yet the only way to avert it would be to expose the false moderates who are driving this process for what they are. And this is exactly what those who have the most to lose from a radical rise refuse to do.
None of this is a new phenomenon. History is repeating itself.

A Day In The Life
I slept-in until 8:30 on Friday, a sunny and already 90°F morning, destined to be over 105°F, with humidity factored-in. With OJ and coffee, I scanned the weather and new sites. Good to see the US Gov't is using our hard-earned taxes to pay for worthwhile crap, once again: "State Dept. Will Spend $396,000 on Climate Change Competition", "Clinton Chief 'Volunteered' for Clinton Foundation While On Gov't Payroll", and "Leaked Email: George Soros Urged Hillary's State Department to Intervene in Albania Civil Unrest". My head hurt, and I needed some aspirin after reading that crap, and much more in the news.
By 11, there was an ***EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORY*** posted in the York and surrounding areas, and temps were already climbing over 100°F, with the Heat Index at 117°F. I decided to stay inside. With my COPD, I don't do well in the extreme heat and humidity, as well as I did years ago. After the morning talk show, I listened to Rush for a few hours while I finished-off the mail and paperwork, wrote some checks for GDNCTR utilities and made 2 Allen Bros 10oz Steakburgers, potato salad and chips. That required a short snooze on the LR couch, and by 6, I skipped the evening news and watched some old episodes of the 25 season of Triple D, until 12:30am. Lights out.
Up at 7am on Saturday, I knew it was going to be another ugly weather day. The condo's windows were steamed-up at just 91°F, on the outside (74°F inside), so the humidity must be near 100%. Yuk. After juice and coffee, no breakfast because of the heat, I left at 9:30 for Dad's, to get some photo-copying done and help him with projects. JEEEEEEEEEEEZ, it was hot and humid! Hardly any traffic; streets are pretty much deserted for a weekend Saturday morning. We had a great visit, did some projects, some paperwork and I left to finish an errand, and then home quickly, into the AC. My Jeep's AC was not quite doing the ac/cooling job. My last stop's offices were ice cold, but felt good. Mmmmmmm, the Local Market's Ice Cream/Gelato MotherLode.
Home by 1:30pm, I unloaded the Jeep, made a Ham Salad Sandwich and some Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream. Damn, I was drenched. I had some chores to do, but spent a while in front of the computer, at an AC vent, to watch CATV, and cool down. Another ***EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING*** was posted. By 6, some new episodes of the 25th season of Triple D Marathon was on, and I watched until 11.
I found this MOTHERLODE of Ice Cream, some 10-12 years ago, did a "review" in the these pages somewhere, and have ordered 1-2x year from their site, since. Mt favorite is the Gelato section, and the garage Kenmore 15 cu. ft. Chest Freezer is very spacious.
Sleeping-in until 9am on Sunday, I had OJ, and Soft-Boiled Eggs w/ Toast In a Bowl, checked the usual weather and news websites. I spent almost 2hrs comparing my present 3 months old LS24D300HL/ZA 23.6" Monitor w/ High Glossy Finish ($219), to a new Samsung 27" LED Curved Monitor ($254), digging around Samsung's site for spec sheets, and just put it on hold, for now. Another ***EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING*** was in effect.
As if the fucking Indian assholes from "Windows Technical Department" weren't enough bullshit, now I'm getting calls from the IRS threatening lawsuits. Hilarious: "Hello, we have made several attempts to reach you. This call is officially a final notice from the Internal Revenue Service. The reason for this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. An urgent callback is necessary." Scammers need to be tracked down, and killed. No arrests, trials or fines; just DEATH.
I started laundry, went out for a couple errands, but by 2pm, it was already up to 97°F, so I just went home, instead of stopping at a local park, and taking a short walk on the trails. The heat/humidity combination was brutal, with a Heat Index of 110°F. After finishing-up the last of the condo tasks, I made an Egg & Olive Salad Sandwich, worked on the coming week's schedule, settled-in to watch some American Pickers Season 6 Marathon, some Life Below Zero shows, and History's special, 50 Years of Star Trek. I liked the 60's TV show, didn't see the movies. 50 years! Yikes! By 12-midnight, I'd had enough of feeling old. Lights out.
Up at 7am on Monday, I had OJ, made coffee but skipped breakfast since I had to go out, before the heat got bad later this morning, to do food shopping for Becky, Dad & myself. After listening to the live stream of Chris Plante Show (9-12 ET) on WMAL/DC, I left at 9:45. Aaaaaaaaaaaah, it was hot/humid already, and I got thru the Weis Market, in East York, with 2 full carts, in an hour. Another ***EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORY*** posted. The were only a few shoppers until 11, when it got busier. I dropped-off Becky's groceries to her, and Dad's to him, and got mine back home before anything melted. I forgot to bring my cooler and ice paks along, which gives me 1-2hrs of visit time, instead of having to rush.
After unpacking at home, I made a Crabcake Sandwich, checked the news, and left again for another new realtor's exploratory meeting, in downtown York. I was surprised at how quiet and deserted the downtown area was; probably due to the oppressive heat/humidity that everyone was staying inside. Back home by 4, after a few stops, I went thru the new mail, found an Amazon.com package delivered on my front porch, and worked on paying some bills and neglected paperwork/filing. By 6, the evening news was on, as was another American Pickers Season 10 Marathon, until 12:30am. Lights out.
On Tuesday at 2am, I woke to some very violent t-storms moving thru the area, had a smoke and got back to sleep. Back up at 8:30, I made coffee, saw the temp was already 86°F outside, and decided to stay in and out of the heat. Another ***EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORY*** posted. Then I saw these interesting headlines: "Feds Holding Summits for Lesbian Farmers", "Obama Golfs 300th Round" (40 work weeks), and easily the week's most important story, "Justin Bieber Deletes Instagram Account". Good grief. By noon, temps hit 93°F. Compared to yesterday's 106°F in Dallas, and worse elsewhere, it's a cold wave.
I made some 10oz Jumbo Lump Maryland Crab Cakes for lunch. With a ***SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING*** on websites from PA down to DC, the skies turned black around 4pm, temps dropped into the low-80s, the worst of it passed just to the north, but we got some much-welcomed rain cells moving thru, anyway. After some paperwork, I caught the evening news, such as it is, and watched Counting Cars Season 6 until 11:30. End of the line.
Up at 8am on Wednesday morning, I had the usual OJ and coffee, skipped breakfast, and checked my to-do list. Temps were in the 70s, with tolerable humidity, so I decided to get some neglected errands done before tomorrow's PCP-Dr's app't. I left at 9:30 for the post office, bank, dry cleaners, Weis Seafood Market, office supplies store and was back by 11:30. I stopped to fuel-up the Jeep, and noticed that gas prices were rising again, due to the number of refineries and storage facilities in Louisiana shutting down because of the flooding.
Gas and diesel prices at the pump, are up just since Friday, August 12th: Unleaded Regular (87 oct) is up 6¢ to $2.13/gal, Unleaded Premium (89 oct) is up 6¢ to $2.33/gal, Premium (92 oct) is up 6¢ to $2.53/gal, and Diesel Fuel/Kerosene K-2 is up 6¢ to $2.63/gal.After a Bacon, Double-Roast Beef, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and a side of Onion Rings, for lunch, I drove down to the Old 20ac GC&N Complex, to do a security check, stop by and visit the folks at Freedom Armory, and drove back home by 6:30pm. History Channel's Big Easy Motors was on for the evening, and I got my PCP-Dr's file out for tomorrow morning's app't. Lights out at 12-midnight.
During the afternoon ride, I stopped at a few small, local seafood markets to check crab & lobster meat prices, since I enjoy making them fresh myself; otherwise I get them online). Prices for Bering Sea crab and lobster are 50% higher than last year, due to the many accidents and death on the ships.
Rolling out of bed at 7am on Thursday, I had OJ, made coffee, skipped breakfast and checked the weather and news. As I was on my first mug, I head a very loud BOOM! at my front door, grabbed my Kimber 1911 .45cal ACP and went running to it, chambering a 230gr HP round. After opening, I could see a small bird lying on the door mat, which had hit my tempered glass storm door and broken its neck. Damn. I buried him/her in the front garden. With an 11:10am app't at my 27yr PCP-Dr's, I left at 10:25 for the medical center complex. 85°F and climbing to 91°F for the day's high. After the 6-month check-up, I have some Lipid Panel/ Cholesterol bloodwork to get done, and will, but it requires 12-14hrs of fasting ahead.
Everything went well, and on the way home, I stopped by my current realtor offices, but they were all out for the day. I had two rifles to oil/polish, and after a quick BLT with Fried Egg, Cheese Sandwich, spent the next several hours in my basement shop doing that and listening to The Kuhner Report, 12-3pm on WRKO, Boston, as an alternative to Limbaugh. Meh, so so. By 6, the news was on and some older Triple D episodes, until 11. Lights out.
Tomorrow/Friday starts a new week here in the "Journal", and there's not much on the plate; just a couple of tentative meetings, which suits me fine. Summer's winding down, and the school busses will be clogging the roads in a week or so. Pretty soon, leaves will be changing and dropping, and we'll be shoveling snow. Tempus fugit.
Conundrum.
The very definition of the word conundrum is "something that is puzzling or confusing". Here are six conundrums today, in the US:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it. That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century. Kind of makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it. And last but not least...
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to all illegal aliens?
Am I the only one missing something?

First, Israel is preparing for war, after being attacked for years on many fronts, and not fighting back as she should have. This war will truly have "Biblical implications" around the world. The Middle East is rapidly-collapsing under the subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic riots (muslim Brotherhood) and rule ("arab Spring"), with world crude oil prices projected to hit $200+/bbl, or even higher into the $300-$400 range,

Tens-of-thousands of websites are devoted to the topic of "survival". Do the same with "You Tube", and watch the thousands of videos. This is *NOT The Phony Y2K Crappola*; this is for real. I said numerous times that Y2K was a waste of time and money to prepare for, and that came true. I'm reading that "survival stores" are reporting a huge upswing in sales and preparations, and for good reason.
I'm also one of the very, very few who "predicted a 9-11 type event", 2 years and 8 months before it happened. Read down that "Journal" entry to the "Scary Stuff" section, and it was done by the subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic shit/filth/trash, NOT the US Gov't as some morons and idiots (Alex Jones & Co), have and still It's interesting you mention when an old paradigm dies and a new one takes its place. There are people who are still connected to the old one and can't conceive of life without that old paradigm. I think you saw that in the Great Depression. A lot of people never recovered from it because once that hit it was the end of their lives. claim. "Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs.
