a recent poll found that 51 percent of Democrats supported criminalizing hate speech. It also found that the same number of self-described liberals supported its criminalization.

Liberal self-identification has hit its highest mark in decades while the ranks of the moderates have declined. And while the idea that the liberal and the moderate are opposites may be a troubling one to those who still think of liberalism in classical terms, the modern liberal is really a leftist in denial.
When William Voegeli writes in the Claremont Review about the crisis of political correctness, it is about a clash between liberals and leftists that no longer really exists. The liberal backs the same censorship agenda as the leftists that Voegeli discusses.
If a liberal-demokkkRAT idiot fell into a pond, and hopefully drowned, they'd be skimming stupid off the surface for a week.And under his control, the Democratic Party has signed on the dirty dotted line.
When a majority of self-described liberals support abrogating the First Amendment, then the term has no real meaning. It certainly no longer represents, what Jonathan Chait, a self-described liberal who wrote a critique of political correctness, described as, “A classic Enlightenment political tradition that cherishes individuals rights [sic], freedom of expression.”
Even the complaints about political correctness from those like Chait have less to do with universal principles than with white leftists defending their positions against the racial attacks of identity politics. Or as Chait says of political correctness, “Its most frequent victims turn out to be liberals themselves.”
There isn't a conflict between liberals and leftists over political correctness. Instead there's a conflict between older white establishment leftists and younger minority social justice activists over their relative power and positions within the left. This conflict is being fought using the rules of identity politics which are deliberately structured to delegitimize and silence white men.
This is yet another evolution of the term ‘political correctness’ whose history both Voegeli and Chait trace. It's not the political correctness experienced by an employee fired after a social justice warrior lynch mob pounces on him on social media and, if the 51 percent of Democrats and liberals had their way, tried, sentenced and sent to jail. It's an internecine leftist power struggle.
Can Chait really expect that a majority of liberals will support criminalizing hate speech while the speech of professional progressives remains protected from the Mau-Mauing of identity politics?
Voegeli rightly points out that, “Liberals tell radicals that they agree with their goals, but working within the system—letting liberals negotiate the deal—is the only way to get even a portion of what liberals and leftists seek together.” But is Obama a radical or a liberal? Obama works within the system, but only to the extent that the system meets his goals. When it doesn't, he stops negotiating and issues executive orders. Then he launches a media pressure campaign and does what he wants anyway.
The extremist, liberal, progressive, commie, hate-filled, lowlife demokkkRAT party has all the class and morals of a drag queen, who just got "her" wig pulled-off.Obama uses the language of the liberal, referencing civil rights, FDR and American history, while governing like a radical. And as Voegeli also points out, that's not a new phenomenon, when FDR made “your typical hashtag campaign fanatic” resemble “a bashful centrist”. Americans don't like radicals. More Americans would refuse to vote [5] for a Socialist than for a Muslim or gay political candidate. But the Socialist can still win as long as he pretends to be a liberal moderate rather than a radical leftist.
The hybrid leftist-liberal works within the system when it comes to rhetoric, but not in reality. Obama tours the country giving speeches in which he implores Congress to do something or work with him while he ignores Congress and rules unilaterally. But Obama wouldn't be getting away with this if his attitude didn't reflect the hypocrisy of how self-defined liberals actually think and act.
A handful of liberals like Jonathan Turley and Alan Dershowitz have been willing to call out Obama's abuses of power. They are notable mainly for raising topics of process that the rest mostly ignore.
The dynamic of the liberal and the leftist became outdated when the leftist began dressing up like the liberal while the liberal slummed at receptions for Black Panther members. And then the leftist had a liberal façade and a radical core and so did the liberal. The difference between them was that the leftist knew that his façade of moderation and tolerance was a disguise while the liberal didn't.
Instead of liberals, there are two types of leftists pretending to be liberals; those who have been lying to Americans and those who have been lying to themselves. Both have gone around the country and the university with their “inner totalitarian”, as referenced by this sites motto, screaming to get out.
“Liberals believe (or ought to believe) that social progress can continue while we maintain our traditional ideal of a free political marketplace where we can reason together as individuals,” Chait wrote.
But its a question of defining what social progress is. If social progress is legal equality and a country where a black man can be president, then seemingly we have quite a lot of it. But if social progress is instead the perpetual conflict of identity politics with an intangible white supremacy that Voegeli writes about, then social progress is a zero-sum game. Minorities cannot rise without attacking white people.
The US has become a place where talentless entertainers, treasonous politicians, porn performers, criminal pro-athletes, liberal idiots/morons/traitors and lying journalists, are sadly-mistaken for people of importance.This form of social progress is really political repression and it can't take place in a free political marketplace. When Obama talks about racism being in the country's DNA and permeating every institution, he's expressing a zero-sum identity politics understanding of social progress.
If the system is fundamentally unjust, then process doesn't matter. If slavery has tainted everything, then what grounds are there for clinging to a Constitution written by dead white men? Why defend the First Amendment against outraged demands by young activists for a better society through censorship?
Chait talks a lot about American liberalism, but not what its based on. He defends it as if it sprang out of thin air and created a better society. But if American liberalism was a radical revolution that created a better society; why not let the radicals of today create an even better society by overturning it?
The old liberals understood the debt they owed to the Constitution. They knew that America was a journey, not a destination. The new liberals clumsily place their personal inconveniences within the framework of principles whose origins they are unwilling or incapable of defending. They echo the same meme about America being an unfair and unjust society, but expect their readers to exclude the principles, like the First Amendment, that make their existence possible from that verdict.
Then they belatedly realize that they have spent years whipping up hateful mobs ignorant of such fine distinctions and who lack the intellectual and moral tools to do anything except listen to the radicals.
The Nature of The Evidence Doesn't Matter; It's The Seriousness of The Charge.American liberalism died when the liberals decided that outrage mattered more than reason. They turned to every radical cause that called on their empathy without measuring it against their morals or their principles. Political correctness became a conservative insult, rather than a liberal one, when liberals ceased to object to censorship and dogma. They became politically correct totalitarians.
Political correctness is what happens when reason dies, ideas go unchallenged and become beliefs. Debate is banished as offensive and insensitive. Dissent is suppressed to protect the unquestionable rightness of the cause. Society closes down and turns repressive. Conformity sets in and even minor differences lead to violent xenophobic reactions, emotional outbursts and the creation of safe spaces.
Radical leftists didn't do all this. Liberals helped them do it. As Voegeli writes, “Liberals and radicals share a basic understanding about what they loathe and about what the world will look like when they succeed in removing its injustices.”
Political correctness is what that world looks like. It's a world of hysterics who have developed an elaborate vocabulary that is part Marxism and part therapy manual to avoid listening to other people. It's a world where justice is synonymous with power and injustice is synonymous with dissent.
It's a world in which a majority of Democrats and liberals agree that the Bill of Rights must go.
The liberal is dead. In his place is a leftist with his true inner totalitarian self screaming out loud.

A Day In The Life
Up at 6:15am on Friday, it was a cloudy, cool 62°F start to the holiday weekend. I made my usual fresh OJ and Turkish Grind Dark Roast Coffee, checked the news and weather on my usual desktop; I didn't want to juggle CATV cables around between the new laptop and my original unit. No WiFi; I'm 100% cabled here and all peripherals are USB. Well, the do-nothing-worth-a-shit DHS is predicting "lone wolf attacks" all July 4th weekend, Greece is running out of cash and slo-mo crashing, a Ft Bragg soldier scared the crap out of a mall full of people, stock markets are closed, the holiday weekend is just starting in Chicago, and supermarkets everywhere are sold-out of ground beef, brats, hotdog/hamburger buns, chips and beer. I left to feed the neighbor's cats – Jackson & Smokey – and stayed a while to play with them
The rain on the skylights woke me at 6:30 on Saturday morning, another cool, 64°F and t-stormy day. While making juice and coffee, I opened the computer to scan the news and weather, and got hit with some Win-10 promos from MS, via FoxNews articles. I quickly shut that crap off; no Win-10 for me,
Up at 8am on Sunday, a cloudy, cool, 64°F start to what would become a warm, sunny day in the mid-80s. I started the fresh OJ, and coffee, but while they were in-progress, I went right for news to see if any muzzie terrorist shit had happened during the night, or was ongoing this early. Thankfully, it was a quiet Sunday. I went two doors down and watered/fed my neighbor's 2 cats. I got 1 of 2 loads of laundry started, caught-up on some email, listened to some financial investing programs, made a Duck Leg Confit & Vegs for lunch. Temps were already into the low-80s and humidity was thick. I took a walk around the condo complex, and it was a deserted place; no one even walking dogs. Everyone was elsewhere. I drove over to Dad's to visit, but he'd already gone to Church in Emigsville, and left a note for me. I had to get back to keep some of the day's condo projects moving along, and get some bills paid.
Monday started-off a bit warmer, at 69°F, but still cloudy with showers moving thru the area, and t-storms for later in the day. After firing-up the computer, I had OJ and coffee, and went right to the news: leftists-controlled Chicago had another wonderful weekend of bloodshed and death for the 4th – 7 killed and 40 wounded (actually 10 and 54), between Friday morning and Sunday afternoon –, Greece's leftists were celebrating their "no" vote, and America had only this grinning idiot killing himself with fireworks. The mess in Greece is a long way from over; they're maybe 48 hours away from chaos. I needed to get to the bank and drive down to Stewartstown, so I left at 9:30. The ride down Rt-24 South was uneventful; traffic was almost non-existent. After getting the Rxs at Rite Aid, I went next door to Saubel's Market and got a few food thingies, then over to Freedom Armory to pick-up a new carry knife, and finally to Brown's Market to get some more fresh vegs and foodstuffs.
After getting home around 1pm, I found that I had a letter from my personal/corporate attorney, and good friend, who's handling the sale of the GC&N Complex, who needed documents from 1990 about
I slept-in until 8am on Tuesday, took aspirin for my back pain, and made OJ and coffee. Much more humid, 74°F and cloudy, I hobbling around like a crippled idiot, so I decided to stay-in and rest my back, so I could get things done later today, or tomorrow morning if the pain didn't subside. While checking the weather and news, I found one that I'd missed yesterday: China's stock market is tanking, checked and confirmed by Bloomberg Business News. Swell. Get yourselves prepared; something bad is coming this way: a massive cyber-attack. We've all been warned, now. I'm well-prepped and getting even more done by the day, for Dad, Becky and myself. I had some errands to get done, and made PA Dutch Chicken Pot Pie, for a late lunch when I got back. After taking a slug
After the evening news, I started watching History's "Counting Cars" for a couple hours, when around 10:30pm, a massive pain suddenly tore thru my stomach, solar plexus and lower back, and quickly doubled me over, and I moved over to the couch at 10:30pm. My abdomen bloated-up 2x normal size, and the searing pain got worse. By 12:30am, it was no better, so I tried several positions for sleeping, none of which worked. By 2am, I was back up walking around; then back to bed. Sweating with fever. By 3am, I was back up and walking around, and went downstairs to start the computer. By 4am, I'd fallen asleep on the couch for an hour. Up and walking around again, and then back to sleep for another hour. By 6am, I'd skipped all OJ and food, made coffee and hoped I could keep it down, as I was very nauseous. Food poisoning from a little bit of sour milk? I grabbed an afghan to keep warm, as I had worse fever; it was 77°F inside and I was shivering. Back to the couch for some sleep. I don't remember much of the next day (Wednesday), between being extremely tired, sleeping short stints, using cold compresses to reduce fever, running to the sink in case I got the heaves, and just wishing it was over. Unable to sit still and watch any TV, I grabbed a Rx 12.5mg Ambien® CR™, and crashed at 9:30pm.
Sleeping-in until 9am on Thursday was a blessing. It was just nice to be unconscious as compared to the bullcrap my guts went thru from a little sour milk. Anyway, I kept down coffee, skipped the OJ and solid food, and checked the weather and news. 72°F and very humid, I went outside, sat on the front porch and fed the birds, to get some fresh air, before the heat of the day arrived. Still feeling groggy and like a bucket of crap, I stayed home, since there was nothing pressing to do. I listened to the 9am - 12noon EST streaming Chris Plante Show, WMAL-DC, had some split pea soup and saltines for lunch, and caught the ***TORNADO WATCH*** coming
Friday starts a whole new week here in the "Journal", and once again there's a fairly open week: I've instructed my personal/corporate attorney to go to preliminary contract on the old GC&N Complex for the new buyers, my first realtor (2012-2014) called and he has some people also interested in the property – when it rains, it pours – and I've got to line-up some instruction and shooting time at Freedom Armory for Dad and me, since he goes into have cataract surgery in a few weeks.
Conundrum.
The very definition of the word conundrum is "something that is puzzling or confusing". Here are six conundrums today, in the US:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it. That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century. Kind of makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it. And last but not least...
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to all illegal aliens?
Am I the only one missing something?

Obama: "Entrepreneurs Don't Build Businesses"
"Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs.
