The external Seagate HD is now shut-down, and the machine is working just fine. So far. Ooops, spoke too soon. The "Blue Screens of Death" have returned, albeit intermittently, but they're back. It doesn't look as though I'll get the re-runs of Season 5 of "24" recorded anytime soon, due to my home unit's troubling "Blue Screens of Death", so I guess I'll be waiting for the DVD to come out in October.
Wednesday Update... Mark stopped by my condo, after a meeting with me at work, and installed a 78GB Cheetah HD (10,000RPM), Norton Ghosted over the old Cheetah HD's (15,000RPM) contents, uninstalled the old HD, made some BIOS changes, and I was back in business.
Retail sales traffic continues to remain steady, as we head into the not-yet sultry, Summer months. Traditionally, both retail sales and landscape jobs slow down 10-15%, but this year, they're actually holding steady. Many NJ-NY people go to the "Shore" in the Summer, while many Pennsylvania folks go to the "Ocean", during those same months. Whatever happened to the "Beach"? I'll never figure that one out.
My two latest ads — Dyed Mulch and Volcano Mulching — have caused quite a "stir" among garden centers, nurseries, landscapers-for-hire and their many customers in the York, Lancaster and Adams counties in Pennsylvania, and in both Baltimore and Harford counties, in Maryland. We've gained a lot of new customers for simple mulch deliveries, and further cemented our reputation for telling the unvarnished truth in our corporate retail advertising, regardless of the subject, and for having the finest quality double-shredded, hardwood bark mulch, in the region. No One Else Even Comes Close™.
Tropical Storm 'Alberto' chugged its way up the Atlantic Seaboard on Wednesday, and we got some spotty benefit from it, but none of the rain and flooding that the South experienced. Thankfully.
For the past two weeks, with the exception of that one very painful Monday morning, I've had almost no back pain to speak of. But Thursday morning, I did from lifting a heavy chunk of a water feature one of my crews had just completed in nearby Stewartstown, as my lscp foreman and I were making some final adjustment to the point-of-entry for the water. I applied the heating pad in bed, and went back to sleep for a few hours. No biggie.
We're now so overloaded with landscape jobs, and more are coming in each day, that I'm considering hiring 1 more 3-man crew to supplement our existing three 3-man crews. I also need an additional 3-ton dumptruck, just to accomodate the work. To that end, I'm slowing down the scheduling and bumping many jobs into the traditionally slower months of July and August, before everything kicks back into high gear in September. This is the price of excellence. I'll deal with it, as I usually do.
