A Day In The Life
It was still raining hard when I got up on Friday at 4:30am, fed & watered Murphy, made myself some breakfast and coffee, and logged-on to check the weather and news sites. The Midwest was getting pounded with snow and ice, and we had rain forecast for much of the day. I decided to go to Weis Market, in East York, and get some things I needed since I had a quickly-upcoming meeting with my realtor, about the GC&N Complex sale, and needed to get a number of checks written, envelopes printed and mailed, plus the food shopping finished. I'm still having a problem with my Kitchen Computer Table's Marcel Breuer Chair aluminum tube base leaving stains on the Kitchen floor. I'd just cleaned/scrubbed the floor 2 days ago, and the chair's base is again reacting with the flooring and leaving a huge "metallic stain", so I'm going to have to come-up with "Plan B"; some kind of glides or something to fix to the chair's base to keep it off of the floor. Crap; it's always something. My new Director's Chairs are an option, but don't give me the support for sitting for such an extended time, as when I'm working on the computer. So they're not really an option, after all. "Plan B" is now my only option with the Breuer Chair, and I just found it at Breuer Chair FAQ (last question): Clip-On Floor Glides!
On my way to the market, I stopped at Rutter's for a carton of Marlboro®'s and gas, and noticed that gas prices had gone-up another 10¢, overnight. Prices at-the-pump, as of Friday, February 24th: Unleaded Regular (87 oct) is now up to $3.89/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) is up to $3.99/gal, Premium (93 oct) is up to $4.09/gal, and Diesel Fuel has risen to $4.29/gal. I decided to go to "The Cabin" after my 8pm Church Meeting, Friday night, despite the $3.89/gal cost of gas, and head my Weapons, Gear & Equipment packed by 5:15pm, while I listened to Talk Radio streaming live on local WSBA 910-AM Radio. I needed to get away from York for a few days. I', almost 100% recovered from the bacterial lung infection, but the GC&N Complex property sale isn't going fast enough for my taste. Hells bells, I bought a 20-acre cornfield, general contracted & supervised all excavation, building, personnel, stocked and opened the place, in just 11 months (May 1990 – March 1991), but the prospective buyer my realtor is working with, can't seem to get things moving very fast. This "sale process" has been dragging along since October 2011, and I'm getting weary. I used to have a lot of patience and perseverance with things – especially when other people were involved – but somehow I've lost it "along the way". My realtor seems to have "the patience of Job", I guess; I'm still "working on it".

Back in York by 3:15pm on Sunday, I disarmed the Condo's newly-upgraded Honeywell® Lynx™ Plus® Security System with the handy-dandy Honeywell® Ademco™ 5804 Wireless Key Transmitter, brought-in my Gear, Equipment & Weapons, fed & watered Murphy, made Pan-Roasted Duck Breasts w/ Butter-Braised Radishes, Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts for dinner, logged-on to the computer and listened to the "Mark Levin Show" until 9pm. Then, I closed-down and headed upstairs.
I had meetings with my realtor on Monday, to go over a Counter-Proposal for the sale of the 20-acre Garden Center & Nursery Complex, Condo cleaning chores to work on both Monday and Tuesday – since my new Amish Cleaning Lady only comes in 2x/ month and this is her "off-week" – some food shopping to do, visit Mom & Dad, help Sherry with her new shop in downtown York; in short, I had a full week ahead. After feeding & watering Murphy, I had a quick Scrambled Eggs over Asparagus for breakfast, skipped lunch, cleaned and did laundry, made Whole Roasted Chicken with Sautéed Potatoes, Blanched Haricot Vért w/ a Rosemary-Meyer Lemon Butter Sauce for dinner, I fed & watered Murphy one last time for the night, listened to a few "Mark Levin Show Rewinds", more live-streaming links here, and called it a day, around 9:30pm.
Last week, I kindly offered to help The City of York out, with a ***FREE DONATION*** of 10-30, 3-6"caliper (diameter) Cleveland Select Pear trees, to replace the shitty Bradford pears they planted many years ago, which have fallen apart in last October's ice storm, and no one called. Well, I'll be going down to the 20-acre Complex on Thursday or Friday, so I'll check the remaining phone's answering machine there, in my now-abandoned Office. Maybe someone with a functioning brain, from York City, wants them. Then again, maybe not.
Gas prices at-the-pumps here in York, PA, have stayed at the same ridiculous and unnecessarily-painful level, since hitting $3.79/gal for Regular Unleaded (87oct) last week, as compared to other parts of the US where it's nearing $6.00/gal. Find your city's realtime prices, with this handy Gas Finder Website; just type in your zipcode. Nice, huh? Do you remember $5/gal gas and 50¢ postage stamps? I remember 24¢/gal gas and 3-4¢ stamps. I'm feeling "old".
Tuesday was pretty much a replay of Monday: up early and after French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, a ½-lb of Bacon, and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee (from whole, freshly-ground beans) with my Chemex® Drip System for breakfast, just cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. Stay home and conserve gas; combine all trips out in the Jeep. No meetings, as my realtor and his wife had left the country for a 2-week vacation in Puerto Rico. (Why do people go to the Turd World for vacations and spend the money there?) I finally made dinner for myself at 5pm, grabbed a shower and some fresh clothes, listened to the "Mark Levin Show" until 9pm, when the storms and heavy rain started. I love sleeping to the sounds on rain on my Condo's 4 skylights. I was asleep by 10pm.
At 5am, Murphy woke me, so I fed & watered him, made Bacon, Sausage, Eggs & Toast and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, had a bananna for breakfast and checked the storm's progress. It was huge, and we were getting the remnants of a warm, southern end of a massive blizzard from the Midwest, which had passed through overnight. It rained all day, so at 9am I went into Sherry's new Shop – "Bee & Frog", here, here, here, here, here and here – at 49 N Beaver St, in York, next to The Central Market and across from The White Rose Tavern. Her store's "Grand Opening" is Friday, April 6th, in case you're planning on stopping-by. I helped her with a few small projects and then had to leave around 10:45am, to run some errands which I'd put-off from Monday and Tuesday. I skipped lunch, but made an early, light dinner of a Grilled Cheese w/Ham Sandwich & Potato Salad, piping-hot Cream of Cauliflower Soup, Potato Chips and Ocean Spray® Diet Blueberry-Pomegranate Juice. My evening radio choice was again the "Mark Levin Show" from 6-9pm, with more live-streaming links here, and then to sleep, as the heavy rain continued. At 42°F, I was just glad that we hadn't gotten colder weather and 1-2ft of snow. I'll take the rain over that mess, any day.
Murphy had me awake again and up at 4:30am on Thursday, wanting water and to be fed. I wanted to go back to sleep, but once I had him taken care of, I was awake for the day. By the time it got light at 6:15, the fog was so dense I couldn't even see the other condos across the street. The local radio was reporting all kinds of accidents, so I decided to wait and give it some time for them to be cleared. I tried to disarm the Condo, but the keypad seemed to not be responding; I could only do it with the remote keyfob unit. I found that I had to enter my 4-digit code to unlock it, and free-up the keypad to accept new external commands, but that's not the way it's supposed to work. I found a "workaround", and ran into the Choice Security Installer (saw his truck down the road) on my way home from the GC&N Complex – everything nonetheless secured earlier at 9:30am – and we made an ad-hoc service-tech appointment for next Wednesday, to remedy the "non-responsive keypad" problem.
I skipped lunch and spent the rest of the day reviewing the just-arrived York Chamber of Commerce Medical Policies/Single Payer Plan Options, as an option to the very complicated and expensive Geisinger Policy Conversion, but I have to wait for a few more days to get the Geisinger Conversion Plan information in the mail, so a final decision on my part is still a week-plus away. a "Birther", but it was eye-opening news conference and both of the LFBC and SSC documents were obvious frauds and forgeries. Wowser! Where's the cowardly, criminal US Congress on this? Cowering with the crooked and criminal US Atty General, Holder (RACIST-NY), that's where.For dinner at 6pm, I made Poached Eggs & Fettucine, some Gelato drizzled with Balsamic Vinegar and several tall glasses of iced Ocean Spray® Diet Cranberry Juice.
