back on January 29, 1999, I predicted a "ground zero" at the WTC (scroll down to "Scary Stuff"), and this guy's column also predicted a nuclear end to one of America's major cities. 9-11 happened, but thankfully just not quite the way I called it. A nuke scenario hasn't happened either, yet, but that may be about to change.
All of the unending news and misinformation/disinformation surrounding missing Malaysian Boeing 777-200ER Airlines Flight MH-370 is confusing, at best. At worst, it's maddening. Considering that the Boeing 777 was built in 2002, it was equipped with modern technology such as GPS, as well as an indestructible black box with an underwater locator beacon which is designed not only to survive accidents, but to function correctly for 30 days, after impact. Despite all these advanced technological amenities, authorities from 26 countries have failed to find the missing plane. Sure, it's a big ocean, but the US "INTELSAT assets" alone know exactly what happened. The Chinese, French, Russian, Australian etc assets, not so much. No one's talking about what really happened.
Even stranger is the fact that Naval Support Facility (NSF) in Diego Garcia is located just south of from Kuala Lumpur International Airport where Flight 370 originated, yet no military jets or drones were scrambled when the plane's communication system “was disabled” an hour into the flight. Under normal circumstances, military radar and satellites would have instantly picked up the wayward
There are no debris fields, either in the sea or on land, from that airplane. And what's more telling, there are no impact signatures from the many INTELSATs, which would have picked-up an ocean splash or a land crash. That leaves one distinct possibility.
What we do know for sure is that Flight 370 was most probably hijacked by either Pakistan or Iran – most likely by Iran – so it's not a matter of if, but when, the plane will be used in an act of terrorism. Therefore, the only questions left in respect to the missing plane are: a) “Who was responsible for hijacking it?”, b) “What act of terror attack will the plane be used for?”, c) “Was Flight 370 a real flight with real passengers?”, and d) “Will said passengers and crew (or people purporting to be so) suffer a prolonged hostage situation?”
Meanwhile, back in the Indian Ocean and elsewhere, "debris" is being sighted on a daily and hourly basis, further making the grieving families even crazier with false hopes that their loved ones will be recovered, and they can get some closure to this mightmare. I'll bet $100 that 99.97% of the "debris" is from ships, placed there as a diversion or has migrated via currents. It is NOT MH-370's debris field. The passengers are long dead, murdered soon after the plane took off, either by lethal gas released in the cabin, but more likely by the plane quickly-climbing to 50,000ft for a fast and relatively-peaceful, oxygen-starvation death. That's why there were no cellphone calls or digital pics transmitted by any passengers.
As I see it, there are 4 main possibilities: 1) Flight 370 Hostage Crisis, 2) 9/11-Style Terror Attack, 3) 9/11-Style Nuclear Attack, 4) 9/11-Style Bio-Chemical Attack. Oh, there are hundreds of sub-possibilities, but at this point, my pen would run out of ink just trying to list all of them. So I'll just stick to the most likely: #3.
Iran has a nuclear bomb, and very possibly, a preliminary/crude delivery system for it. Pakistan has both nuclear weapons and semi-sophisticated delivery systems, as do Russia and China. But
Since the shithole which is islam, considers the US as "The Great Satan" and Israel as "The Little Satan", it only makes sense that they take out New York City first, causing the US and world markets to crash, and then go after Israel's Tel Aviv. There are also hundreds, if not thousands of islamic "sleeper terrorists" already here, hiding in plain sight, who would get their "go orders" and begin massively hitting "soft targets" – schools, hospitals, shopping malls, offices etc – all over the country, causing nationwide chaos, terror, destruction and death. Think of the Boston Marathon x 100,000.
As screwed-up and confused as our initial response to 9-11 was, while it was in progress and we couldn't scramble any jets to intercept and shoot down any of the four hijacked airliners, the re-purposed airliner theory is entirely plausible and likely. It's a lot of work to hijack one, make it go dark to ATCs, fly in the shadow of another similar plane to make it look invisible, murder all those people, land it, dispose of the bodies, re-purpose it – repaint it, refit it with a large nuke and fissile "dirty bomb" material, re-ID it – and train a team to fly it back to the US Mainland to detonate over NYC, right before the November Mid-Term Elections. That'd kill 4-5,000,000 Jews and another 6-7,000,000 Americans. Remember all those many thousands of OTMs – Other Than Mexicans – who crossed the Mexican border, left their koans and prayer rugs etc behind in the AZ desert, and came into the US? They were AQ terrorists and will be setting our drought-scorched forests and cities and town afire, and rampaging at "soft targets", killing tens-of-thousands more Americans.
Conversely, if they flew MH 370 to 45-50,000ft and detonated over Ohio or Illinois, they'd create an EMP, which would take America back to the early-1800s, and many, many, many, many more millions would die, other than the 12-13 million if it were detonated on or over NYC. Even easier would be sailing a container ship into NYC Harbor, detonate at sea level, or launch a nuke up to 50-60,000ft and detonate it as an EMP. The scenarios are limitless and are all over the Net, not just in my fertile mind.
Anyway, back to MH-370. Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday's breathless news reports are claiming that a new debris field is definite evidence of the plane crashing into the Indian Ocean. Bullshit! Show me a definitive piece of that plane. OMG, BREAKING NEWS: they found a floating styrofoam cup, so that MUST be the plane! Bull-freaking-shit! SHOW ME THE DEFINITIVE EVIDENCE, dammit! Not some
The lack of FBI and NTSB involvement, and their absolute silence, is beyond stunning, as they are always heavily-involved and taking the investigative lead, when an American airplane manufacturer's product crashes. No sonic pings from the "black boxes" (which are orange, BTW). Where's the FAA in all of this? The corrupt muslim turd-world shithole of Malaysia washed its hands of the whole thing, and declared it "over"; problem solved. A weirdo muzzie pilot, two Iranians with stolen passports; what could possibly go wrong? The ACARS System shut down and transponder turned-off; both manually? The ELT beacon wasn't activated upon its programmed 3g impact, either in water or on land. There was both known dangerous (lithium ion batteries), and unknow/unlogged extra, last-minute, add-on cargo aboard. Multiple unscheduled turns on an 8hr flight, by the plane? Someone in the cockpit saying, "All right, good night". Where's the definitive wreckage, as evidence? In the absence of definitive wreckage for 3 freaking weeks, NOTHING CAN BE RULED OUT!

A Day In The Life
Friday morning was a nippy 29°F at 6:30, and I probably could have slept another hour or so, but the noise from the garbage trucks had me awake and I stayed up. The Turkish Bathrobe helped take the chill off, I cranked-up the Condo's heat to 76°F, made some Fresh-Squeezed OJ w/ lots of pulp, and several mugs of steaming hot, French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, and fired-up the computer to check the weather and news. After downloading email from last night and this morning, I had an English Muffin w/ Peach Amaretto Jam, careful not to eat too much since I had a 10am brunch with an old friend and GC&N customer, down in Red Lion. My ancient 2006 Nokia 6060 "Clamshell" dumbphone had 7 messages in its new call queue, so I went thru those as well. Next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, I need to drive back down to Rite Aid Drugstore, in Stewartstown to P/U 4 Rx refills, so I might as well There's no "catching-up on sleep", either. Sleep is like time: once you've lost it, you can never get it back.
Another night of uninterrupted sleep; I felt great on Saturday morning and got up at 7:45am. It was nippy in the Condo, so I grabbed the Turkish Bathrobe, made coffee and OJ, and checked the usual weather, email and the new sites, while the Condo warmed-up. 27°F outside. Radio truly sucks on the weekends, but there are many podcasts to catch-up on, and since I needed to go to Dad's this morning to help him finish putting the house back together, change kitchen ceiling lights, and work with Becky to clean-out shelves, I'd do those podcasts and archives, later. I'd left the Jeep out overnight, so after warming it up, I left at 9:15. All that done, we took Becky's screen door down to my friend Dave's business in Red Lion to have it re-screened, and I went home around 3:30pm. He had 40+ jobs ahead of hers, but did her screen door right away, called to let us know it was ready, and I planned to pick it up Sunday morning, right after going food shopping, and get it installed for my Sister. High for the day was a wonderful 67°F, and I quickly shed my barn coat. I made a late lunch of Creamed Chipped Beef & Gravy Over Toast, w/ Peas, and went out for a walk, until 6pm. Temps were dropping
On Sunday, I slept-in until 7:30am, made coffee, OJ and had some Del Monte® Red Grapefruit cups, checked the email load, and scanned the weather and news sites. 34°F outside. Have you noticed the cost of your breakfast going up, yet? Along with everything else? I decided not to go food shopping, since I was preparing for an influx of Chinese food, about mid-week, but that might be delayed due to the impending early-Spring snowstorm, so I might run down to Southern York County to get my Rx refills and the food, early on Tuesday. Or not, depending upon the storm. I got ready, wrote out a check for the screendoor repairs, warmed-up the Jeep, got the week's mail from the CHCA Community Mailbox, and left On today's morning ride, I saw that gas/diesel prices at the pump, had dropped 6¢/gal, since just last Tuesday, March 18th: Unleaded Regular (87 oct) is now at $3.49/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) is at $3.59/gal, Premium (93 oct) is at $3.79/gal, with Diesel Fuel/Kerosene K-2 also dropping to $4.19/gal, at most stations in the York (PA) area. at 9:45am. Traffic was light and I made good time down south to pick-up the screen door, and back up north to drop it off at Becky's, and then to the DIY carwash to clean the Jeep's undercarriage. Back
Up at 7:15 on Monday morning, to a sunny but cold day, I started the coffee and OJ, turned-up the heat, checked the weather and email, news sites and decided to go down to Shrewsbury and Stewartstown, to get my Rx refills and Chinese food. It was a cold 17°F outside, destined to get even colder tonite, and it looked like little, if any, snow would be coming into the area tomorrow and Wednesday. Tomorrow starts a new week here in the "Journal", and with Spring just breaking, my Sister's anxious to get me to do some design work for her new Condo's existing landscape, so I'm meeting with her and their complex' maintenance guy (who used to work for me at my GC&N Business back in the mid-90s). She also wants to visit some local garden centers and nurseries, and see what plants are available, and perhaps choose and buy some. I also have to get over to Dad's and finish some bookshelf clean-outs, and take a few loads to The Salvation Army. In a few weeks, I need to get over to Sherry's, when her plants begin to bloom, and make plans to transplant some shrubs after they're finished blooming, and help her and Corey with any projects they need help with. Dad has several new landscape projects on-tap, which I'll need to be involved with and closely supervise. And I am determined to get out with Tim and do some target practice, despite my right eye's floater problem. It won't be a boring Spring and Summer.

I go way back to 1986, When IBM came out with its (stupidly proprietary) IBM PS2-/50 8550 Micro-Channel (everything else was easily-repairable Macro-Channel) with dual 40k floppy HDs (soon upgraded to 100k), 56k memory, 9600-baud modem (yes, I did say "baud") to access the takes-forever-to-get-onto the CompuServe BBS, no Web or Net available to the public back the, as it was DARPA-owned & run, black & orange typeface monitor CRT, and DOS-1 with 9 simple DOS commands, quickly-followed by DOS-2 (MS-DOS) and then expanded into graphics a year or so later. Egghead Software was the store I went to for my graphical software. It was $4,500, at the time and too pricey for me, so Dad bought one for me as a birthday present, gave me the manual and walked away. I was on my own. I still have it down my basement in my "computer museum".

Obama: "Entrepreneurs Don't Build Businesses"
"Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs. I was hugely-pleased, a little stunned at the secrecy, but half-expecting a juicy trove of treasures.
It is called the Center of Military History. It is located 30 minutes outside Washington, D.C., at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. The building itself is very nondescript.
But behind a series of highly alarmed doors and long, cement, camera-laden hallways. It is the highly sophisticated, climate-controlled treasure room where the army keeps its most precious artifacts.
The facility was built for $24 million in 2010. The cavernous warehouse is typically shrouded in total darkness. Motion lights illuminate only the areas in which someone is walking.
If I could get tickets, I'd fork over my first-born child. Oh wait; I don't have one. Heh. I'd go there in a heartbeat.
