it's a fairly simple key, which I strongly feel should be included on every keyboard, from every computer manufacturer's sub-contractor. There are many times when I just "do something dumb", and I quickly regret – a "major botch" as many are wont to say – and have to clear-it-up by "back-tracking: "ALT-E-Enter" or repeat on the Toolbar, File > Undo, numerous times, to clear the "mistake". And then start-over. Simply pressing the "Oh Shit!" button could do that in one stroke. Genius. By simply going to "Control Panel", it could also reset it to do "other things", as well, like make designated liberal-progressive-demokkkRAT scum & RINO assholes literally-explode into small, colorful chunks. That'd be a really nice feature, IMO.
Wouldn't it be nice to go back to 2007-2008, hit the "Oh Shit!" button and erase the lowlife, dirtbag, piece-of-pigshit Barry ∅bummer (CRIMINAL-IL) and his corrupt, anarchist, muslim-loving, criminal ilk *permanently*, from the world? In small, colorful chunks? If they hadn't been elected by 52% of the dumbest, moronic, idiotic assholes in America – who adore "Dancing With The Stars", "America's Got Talent" etc shit-shows – then 21% unemployment (9.1% is total US Gov't-massaged bullshit numbers) wouldn't be the norm in America, 46.7 MILLION Americans wouldn't be living at or below poverty and on Federal Food Stamps, 47% of Americans wouldn't be paying NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX at all and living free on our hard-earned tax largesse, Don't like what I'm saying or thinking? Then push The Drama Button. socialism-Marxism-communism-Leninism wouldn't be rampant in the US Congress and Government Agencies – "The Enemy Within The Gates" – corruption and criminal scandals wouldn't be daily occurrences in the corrupt, criminal Barry ∅bummer (CRIMINAL) Regime, weekly and monthly bankruptcies worth BILLIONS wouldn't be taking place in the Government-Business-Financial Complex in the massive "Green Industry Scam", the subhuman homo/faggot/deviant filth's agenda wouldn't be corrupting America's children in lower schools of education and all through upper-academia, America wouldn't be running an unsustainable $14.2 TRILLION debt (a 29% increase in less than 3½ years), America wouldn't be fighting 4 simultaneous, unwinnable (ludicrous ROEs) "wars", America would have nuked 15-16 commie and muslim/islamist "Turd-World Countries", Capitalism would again be flourishing, actual unemployment would be at-or-under 5.1% again, and the world would be-at-peace, once more. Ah, "pipe-dream-on", my Friend.
But that didn't happen, did it? We're truly f•cked now, as a Nation. That wonderful "America" which you and I grew-up in and prospered, is almost completely gone; probably never to be gotten back or return even in our or our childrens' lifetimes. The world is a much different, angrier and more ugly place right now, and despite that awful factoid, we have to go on from here. The world is now also a very dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. Think the entire corrupt, criminal, illegal insider-trading by the US Congress, which, if done by you or I, would land us in a US Federal Prison, within hours. Unethical? Read "Throw Them All Out", by Peter Schweizer; it'll blow your mind at what "they" get away with, *legally*! How do you think they all gotten to be millionaires and billionaires, in a few years? Meanwhile, you and I simply get f•cked, again and again and again. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of bending-over, grabbing my ankles and smiling while "it" happens.
CW II is coming, perhaps much sooner than you think. It will be ugly, murderous and very bloody, in every city, town, village, hamlet and rural area. No one will escape it; everyone will be "touched" in some way, shape or form. Just make sure you and your Family are well-supplied with plenty of water, food, guns and ammo. Forget the bullshit-touted "investing" in gold & silver; "invest" in brass & lead. What are you going to do with that gold and silver, when you need water and food? Slice-off a "sliver or a chunk of either" at an empty-shelved supermarket or convenience store, to pay for products which don't exist anymore, because the unions' trucks are running product "just-in-time", to keep America stocked-up? That product doesn't "grown on the shelves", as 85% of Americans believe it does; it must be grown, processed, packaged and shipped into our stores daily, for replenishment and purchase. I know how the "food chain" works; far too man people don't have a frigging clue.
America must be "taken back" from those subhuman, lowlife dirtbag, commie, anarchist, hate-America, corrupt, racist, garbage/shit/trash/filth criminals now-in-power, who haven't passed a balanced budget in 850+ days, and continue their sickening financial feeding at The US Taxpayers' Trough/Teat for the past 50-60 years, at all costs to American Taxpayers.
A Day In The Life
Friday's alarm went off at 4:15am, as usual, with Murphy prodding me to get-up and take care of his needs. I grabbed my Turkish Bathrobe, and with outdoor temps at 33°F, I set the Condo temp to 75°F last night, but reset that to 78°F, quickly. The heat felt good. Murphy got watered and fed, made fresh-cut Pink Grapefruit Sections, Poached Eggs, Bacon, Grits, Butter & Sea Salt and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee (from fresh-roasted, whole beans) with my Chemex® Drip System. I was going to need my Parka this morning, until it warmed-up, and would need to take my 12" LLBean "Maine Insulated Hunting Boots" along, in case the guy who called me from Hanover yesterday, actually arrived at 8:30am, and wanted to walk the muddy fields to buy some trees, to replace his several "Halloween Snow Storm" trashed shitty Bradford Pears, for later digging and planting. I told him that he needed to have the stumps pulled before any other units were installed.
I shaved, grabbed a shower and some fresh clothes, took my time, scanned the various weather and news sites, had more coffee, since I didn't need to be into the Complex until around 7:30am. Dad was in around 9am, a customer came in to exchange two 2½" "Red Sunset" B&B Maples for one 5½" unit, even-up. It'll be dug and planted next week for him, by a local contract-digger, since I'm only selling trees and not doing installations anymore. The local home improvement contractor, from Stewartstown, who'd bought my old (9,515hrs) 1990 John Deere 675B Skid-Loader with Backhoe Attachment, pallet forks, 2 different buckets and also my old, reliable 1988 Chevy V8 Dump truck for $6,500 (I gave him a "nice deal" on both) came-in and picked-up the SkidLoader, paid me for the Chevy Dump Truck and as soon as his company check clears (by Monday), we'll get the PA State Title switched. I've already prepared a "Bill Of Sale" for him, so he'll get the truck next week. He and his partner also bought a goodly number of 1-year-old power tools – 2 diamond-blade stone saws and expensive new blades, gas-powered leaf blowers, a compressor and a power-washer – which Fox News 43 did have their (Sunday, Oct 31st, 10pm News TV-aired) filmed story up on my Friday, October 28th closing; wait for it to load (23Mb) and click "open". Here's the re-created (by me) Fox News WPMT 43 Website article, with the film clip near the end. The local paper had also done an article with pictures, on my Friday 10/28 Closing. So did this local newspaper's article. I had listed for the upcoming auction, and I'm glad to see them get those fine tools, instead of giving them away at auction. I closed at 1pm, came home, had some "Condo chores" to do, so I also got them done and laid-down for a short "nap". My 8pm Church Meeting was coming-up fast, and I really needed to go tonight to make some decisions for myself and them.
I got back from my meeting around 9:30pm, fed & watered Murphy for the night, checked and answered a few emails, and decided to call it quits. I could sleep-in both tomorrow and Sunday, after getting-up at 4:30am to feed the cat, and I didn't have to go down to collect the mail until Sunday after food shopping, in the morning. I'd have the weekends-off anyway, this time of year, but now that my business is kaput, I can do what I want. Sort of. I headed upstairs to bed at 10pm, with Murphy leading the way.
I got-up at 4:30am Saturday to water & feed Murphy, and then went back to sleep until 9:30. That's something I've haven't done since last Winter, on a weekend, except on one or two weekend "Cabin" getaways during July and August, when I had my business closed on Sundays and the partial-weekends off for the Summer months. I donned my Turkish Bathrobe, turned-up the Condo's temp to 78°F from 72°F, grabbed a shower and some fresh clothes, made Fresh-Squeezed OJ, a Frittata, Bacon and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, with my favorite Truvia® Sweetener and Irish Creme Creamer.
I shouldn't have left my cellphone number on the Office's answering machine recording, so people could get me "in an emergency", as I was now getting calls asking "if we're open", after clearly stating on the recording that, "as of Friday, October 28th, 2011, we're closed forever and out-of-business". I wasn't planning to go down until early Sunday morning, just to pick-up the Friday/Saturday mail, before I go food shopping at Weis Market and visit Mom & Dad. I'd planned on working on some more Chapters for my online Novella, "The Virtual Cabin", over the weekend and then begin cleaning-out all the cupboards and closets in my Office, beginning on Monday. I needed to mentally-prepare myself for that most unpleasant task. The extensive filing cabinets in the Main Retail Building and in my Office would have to wait until Dad came down, and we went through all of it together, to decided what to keep for 2011 Tax purposes, based upon a conversation with our Corporate CPA, on Thursday.
Frankly, I just wanted to go back to sleep for the rest of the day, but that wouldn't have been a good idea. The 4 cups of strong, French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee weren't helping me to wake-up; I was still "groggy", and didn't know what to do next with all this "time on my hands", being out of work as I am now.
Making the bed (everyday except Tuesday when my cleaning people come-in), a shower and fresh clothes helped, and I went out to my Condo's front garden, planted a "special momento 1-gal Hydrangea" from my former Display Gardens, but didn't feel like going anywhere or doing anything in this heavy Saturday traffic around The Galleria Shopping Mall area. I ordered another "Fedora" to replace the worn-out, 10 year-old one I've been wearing during the colder Fall and Winter months, as it's truly ready for the garbage heap now, with all the other Office "debris". Time to start-off with a "fresh one". The 50°F weather "woke-me-up" while I was planting and sweeping-out the garage, and I began to feel somewhat better. But not going anywhere bothered me; that's not my style. Maybe I'm becoming withdrawn and reclusive, I think. Or maybe I just didn't "feel like going anywhere", today. Flip a coin.
I worked on and finished 9 more of the 47 Chapters – 5 more to go – from 2010's "Journal", of "The Virtual Cabin", all-day Saturday, made Chicken Kiev, Roasted Potatoes and Fresh String Beans, for dinner, and decided to re-watch the DVD of Tom Selleck in "Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost", at 7pm, before going to bed in a couple of hours. My eyes were starting to cross, from looking at the 24" LCD Samsung Monitor, all-day. I'm at 42 of 47 Chapters for 2010, and then will start on Part II: 2011's 37 already-written Chapters, next. That'll take me a couple of weeks' evenings, as a lot's going to be happening – cleaning-out the Office, an auction, private sales of equipment and tools, sale-of-the-property/land negotiations, tax discussions etc. I'll do things on the Novella, as time, strength and my feelings permit, I guess. It was already 9pm, and Murphy was getting "restless" for bed. After shutting-down the Condo and heat to a sleepable 72°F, I followed him upstairs. Sunday would be a fairly-busy day, and next week would be much busier and not much fun, either.
I was up at 4:15am on Sunday, watered & fed Murphy, grabbed a shower and some fresh clothes, made Fresh-Squeezed OJ, Pancakes w/ Blueberries & Bacon, Grits w/ Butter & Sea Salt for breakfast, and 5 cups of French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee (from fresh, whole beans) with my Chemex® Drip System. It was only 6:15am and just getting light, when I left to wash/vacuum-out the Jeep, drive down to the GC&N Complex to get Friday's and Saturday's mail, go food shopping at Weis Market in East York, and visit Mom & Dad, by 9:30am. By then, I was tired, and came home and opted to take a "short nap" on the LR Couch, for a few hours. Murphy joined me for a snooze, almost immediately.
Not going to work anymore just doesn't "seem normal", to me. I don't know whether I can get over it, until I find another job, doing "something else". I'm definitely not going back into the BSA (Boy Scouts of America), Marketing/Advertising (Madison Ave Ad Agencies, NYC) or into Horticulture (www.gdnctr.com) fields, again; I'm finished with those long "careers" of 4+, 17+ and 21+ years, respectively. It's time to "re-invent myself" and find something new to do. "John Shelley v4". What? I don't have a frigging clue, yet. But I'll figure it out soon enough, I guess. It definitely won't be one of these industries.
After a couple hours of sleep, I decided to listen to a few of "The Mark Levin Show Audio Rewinds", which I missed last week, while re-watching "Jesse Stone" DVDs. I turned-off my cellphone, since calls were coming-in every 15-20 minutes, asking if I was "still open", despite the website's "good-bye" message, the Office's answering machine's "closed announcement" and my front gate's "CLOSED - Out Of Business" sign. My cleaning people sent an email saying they'd be in on Monday, instead of Tuesday. Fine; I've had enough calls and email for one day. I shut-down Thunderbird email, too.
After doing 2 loads of laundry, running a 1½-hr Malwarebytes Scan on all internal, external drives and the registry – found & deleted 8 infected, downloaded "files" from Sunday's downloading work – watering & feeding Murphy for the night, I closed it down for the evening around 7:30pm. My Norton 360 v5.0 App had already run in the morning, finding nothing, so Malwarebytes was just an added precaution for later-in-the-day-downloaded pics etc, which obviously were infected. I use it on all my machines, as an adjunct to Norton 360 v5.0 and it's a lifesaver. Everything was laid-out for a leisurely breakfast and coffee, so I quit for the day. Morning would come early, as it did on Sunday. I really enjoyed sleeping-in on Saturday morning, but that was the exception-to-the-rule. It looked to be an on-and-off, rainy week.
Up at 4:15am, I took care of Murphy's water and food needs, shaved and showered, made Fresh-Squeezed OJ, Quaker Oats® Peaches & Cream Oatmeal, had a banana and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee. The news and weather headlines sucked; nothing but negativity everywhere. I transferred the files which I needed for today's Office work on to my 32Gb Cruzer® Flashdrive, gathered-up my "stuff" for the day, and left around 6:15. Diggers would be in all week and I needed to be ready for them.
I stopped at Sheetz® for more coffee, a carton of Marlboro®s, and opened-up at 7am. I had a pile of the week's Condo mail to go through, as usual, bills to pay and 97 emails to sort through; far short of what I used to receive everyday. The "unsubscribing" thing is beginning to work, I guess.
I started cleaning-out my Office cupboards, just as the 2 diggers showed-up to remove two purchased 2½-3" Ginkgo trees for a Customer; his other purchased 100gal Jap Maple "mysteriously-disappeared", and I will have to either refund his purchase or trade-him-off to another tree of equal or greater value. Dammit; too much going-on for Steffi and me to keep track-of last week, I know now. I spent almost 3 hours cleaning-out 2-of-8 cupboards, sorting through stuff back to 1990, including some yellowed newspapers from the 9-11-01 subhuman, murderous, muslim/islamist filth terror attacks. I had 6 massive "Ultra-HD Contractor" garbage bags full, which I could barely lift myself, and took them to the Rt 24 mailbox roadside, 2-at-a-time in the back of the Jeep, for pick-up tomorrow morning. By 11:15am, I was already sweating, exhausted and still had a very long way to go. One step and one day at a time. I'll never get all this done in a week or two, even with "help", let alone doing it alone.
As a side note, in a perverse sort of way, I'm glad that I'm now "CLOSED - Out Of Business" and won't have to go through this illegal and un-Constitutional ∅bummerCare bullshit. It was just about to hit my already-sinking bottom-line, had I stayed in-business, by January, 2012, unless the SCOTUS later finds that "the individual mandate" of The Commerce Clause – an enumerated power listed in The United States Constitution (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3) – has been grossly-violated by the corrupt ∅bummer&Co criminal scum. I don't want any part of it, as an employer, since it will affect and quickly-bankrupt tens-of-thousands of American Small Businesses with 50+ employees, who create 70% of America's jobs.
While cruising Google about my business, I also noticed this article in "Garden Center" Magazine, about my recent closing. It also seems that many, many more places are closing-down, too. The entire industry's changed, and will never be the same, ever again.Mark & Earl from our IT and Radiant® CounterPoint® Rep Company, in Baltimore, would be in to help me run year-end reports, customer purchase lists, dismantle all the CP hardware and the intra-net, as well as several other projects for Dad, for tax purposes. It would be a very busy day. I watered & fed Murphy for the night, finished some Condo "chores", stowed a load of personal stuff I brought home from the Office today, and headed upstairs around 8:30pm.
This 4:15am alarm truly sucks. I'm going to change it to 7-8am, after the auction and I finally get "things straightened-out" at the Complex, for a few months, and do some late sleeping, once again, after getting-up, watering and feeding the cat. I shaved and showered, made Fresh-Squeezed OJ, Cream of Wheat, Sunnyside-up Eggs, Bacon, a Banana for breakfast and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee. Cold water in my face helped, too.
I felt pretty good about all the "Office clean-out work" I'd done by myself yesterday, but realized that there were still 6 cupboards and 2 closets in my office to go, the Office desk and 7 LSCP filing cabinets, plus 3 massive metal storage cabinets in the Main Retail Bldg which needed emptying-out and disposal, after 21+ years of accumulated "stuff". I'd be at this for another 3-4-5 weeks, at least, even after today's gargantuan hardware/software teardown effort with Mark and Earl. I had plenty of time on my hands, weather permitting, but ultimate storage space for the "saved stuff" would be a problem, as my Condo's basement was filling-up with "survival supplies", my original 1989 boxes and items, and Mom & Dad's double 2-car garages plus basement could hold only so much. 90%+ of it had to be thrown-out. I'm going to need a dumpster, I think.
I downloaded email, sipped my coffee and leisurely-scanned the weather and news sites; same-old, same-old crap. Except we'd be getting some rain today and tomorrow and that would impact the diggers and their machines on Wed-Thu-Fri, which meant they'd have to be coming back next week, to finish-up unless the fields dried-out. I still had the one Customer whose purchased Jap Maple "disappeared", and had to settle that with him, but a refund or trade-up would be easy to do. I stopped for gas on the way into work, although crude oil price have jumped $20/bbl in just a few days, I noticed that gas prices at-the-pumps, down 10¢/gal last week, are up again. They're up 10¢/gal just this week, from last week's lowered prices. Unleaded Regular (87 oct) is now up to $3.39/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) is at $3.49/gal, Premium (93 oct) is now at $3.69/gal and Diesel has risen to $3.89/gal. It's a fricking yo-yo at the gas stations. Up, down, up, down. If we'd just *drill here in America*, we could halve or quarter the price, and be "energy independent" like Canada is, but since 10-15+ oil rigs have left the Gulf after the dirtbag, shit-for-brains, commie ∅bummer (SAMBO-IL) declared NO DRILLING for anything, that won't happen until we get rid America of the subhuman, lowlife, asshole-thug, punk-tar-baby, in The White Crib. ∅bummer (INCOMPETENT-IL) is the main, intentional cause of America's economic problems.
Here's reason #2 why I don't have any "social networking" accounts, anymore; I canceled them all many weeks ago after I found out that the lowlife dirtbag FaceBook, Linked-In, Twitter etc scumbags were TRACKING YOUR EVERY MOVE ON YOUR COMPUTER, even after you log-off their shitty site! My advice: erase what's on them NOW, and *cancel all of your accounts*, on those lowlife-type of sites, NOW! They're f•cking you six-ways-to-Sunday, and you don't even know it!
I cleaned-out the "Software Cupboard" today, and must have had 100-200 boxes of various old software programs to sort through and discard/keep. Mark mercifully helped me and made it go much faster. Plus, I had a box of cables and wire for Mark and Earl to look through and see if any of those were worth saving, for future use. I was tired by 9am, from taking 3 more very heavy bags of debris, plus emptying all the waste cans and replacing several ceiling floodlights, down to the front gate's garbage pick-up area. I still have so much to do, yet; I'm overwhelmed everytime I come in here and look at "what's left to do". And I've only been at this for 2-4 days. It's going to take weeks to get it all done. Shit Crap. Plus, I had a customer come in to purchase plant material (4 trees) at 40% Off, and 8-10 of the Maryland Master Gardener Ladies are coming-up on Wednesday morning at 8am, to make more "hardgoods" purchases at 50% Off. Whatever it takes to get rid of inventory and get some cash coming-in to pay-off the remaining few bills.
Mark and Earl arrived at 1:30pm, while I'd gone to get pizza and Cokes®, backed-up all the Radiant® CounterPoint® POS files on both #1 Front Counter machine, my Office Server, and tore-down all the POS Retail-related hardware at the Front Counter and in my Office, bundling-it-up w/ tie-wraps and taking numerous pieces with them for re-sale or their own use. My Office unit is still intact, all peripherals working fine, Net connection/router working just fine and I'll bring it all home later, after I've finished cleaning-out the GC&N Complex, in a few weeks. We finally left at 4:30pm, as it was getting dark. Murphy was glad to see be, but perplexed that I was "so late getting home", as he's used to me being there by 3pm, or earlier, these days. He was quickly-watered and fed, and watered again several times.
It was raining-steadily by 5pm, and was forecast to be a "crappy, rainy day" on Wednesday, so I had my doubts that the independent contract-diggers would even get into the muddy fields with their heavy equipment to get the trees out, but one never knows. Winter is fast-approaching, and they need to get their work done. I called it a day at 8:30pm, knowing that 4:15am wouldn't be all that far off. My Condo cat, Murphy, was already waiting on the bed.
The hard rain on my Condo's 4 skylights woke-me-up 2x during the night, at 12:30am and 2am, and after stopping, I could finally get back to sleep. I had a lousy night's sleep, all-in-all. It sounds light a "freight train coming through the place" when it pours that hard against the windows and skylights, and it's unnerving. I'd think I'd be used to it after 22 years, but I'm not, so I wind-up sitting on the side of the bed, having a smoke, talking to Murphy, who'd been diving-under the covers all night to escape the noise, waking me up, until it's over.
The alarm went-off at 4:15m, I watered and fed him, shaved and showered, made Fresh-Squeezed OJ, Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns, Bacon & Toast for breakfast and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee. After scanning the weather and news sites, I could see a massive rainfront headed our way, probably for the rest of the day. The digger would probably be rained-out until tomorrow or Friday, but the MD MG Ladies would most likely visit and I'd have to help the load trucks with their "hardgoods" purchases. Personally, I'd rather call the day off and go back to sleep. But there were a lot more cupboards and closets to clean-out in the Office and Main Retail Bldg, and I needed to keep it moving along.Only 13 emails in the queue! Nice. I left around 6:15am, stopped for coffee, and opened-up at 6:45, just as the skies opened-up and began their downpour. After yesterday's work with Mark and Earl, the Front Retail Counter #1 POS Station was desolate, as was the Front Counter Retail #2 POS Station – no computers, monitors, cash drawers, APC units, receipt printers, FAX – everything was disassembled, cleaned-up-out, bundled and stacked for storage, so when the 16+ Maryland Lady Master Gardeners showed-up en másse at 8:30am on Wednesday, I had to write-up everything by-hand, with triplicate paper receipts and make change from a PNC Bank Bag, just as I did in early March 1991, when I first opened, before I installed a real POS (point-of-sale) computer system, at the Front Counter. It was truly *bedlam* and déjà vu all over again, with just "my, myself & I" doing the work. Heh; what chaos that was for 3 hours, but I made almost $1,200 to pay-off some more bills.
By 12:30pm, everyone had left, I made some lunch, did some more cupboard and closet clean-outs, the contract-diggers bailed-out due to the pouring rain and deepening mud, and I closed-down for the day at 2pm. I had several stops to make on the way home to pick-up more HD Contractor Garbage Bags, file boxes, duct tape at various stores, and some food items at Weis Market in Red Lion (PA), when I got caught in an horrendous downpour and thoroughly-soaked. One of the MD-MG ladies has to come back on Friday, for the 20+ various-sized gray-painted crates she bought for shelving in her garage; she took all her other many purchases with her, as did the other MGs. I watered Murphy and fed him with some new cat food, which he wolfed-down voraciously. "Whiskas® Savory" Cat food is now "his new, favorite brand", instead of hundreds of cans of Fancy Feast® I have stocked for him. Cats and dogs do "develop preferences" when you feed them from a can or package. After having cats for 30+ years, I should know that factoid. A hot shower and dry clothes felt good after I got home.
I've decided to skip my Friday 8pm Church Meeting, pack my gear and weapons on Thursday afternoon, and leave for "The Cabin" at around 2pm on Friday, just to get "away" from all this BS, in York. Since I'm closed anyway on the weekends, no biggie. I need some serious R&R away from all of this crappola I'm going through.
I worked on some re-stocking and re-organizing of the basement "survival foodstuffs", transposed another couple of 2010 Chapters of "The Virtual Cabin", and soon I'll be ready for the 2011 Chapters, Part II. I called William up in Adam's Junction and asked him to mow the meadow one final time, prep "The Cabin" gardens for Winter, heavily-restock and tarp the split firewood and 3ft logs on the back porch, and check-in on Jenny, as he does 2x/day, weekly. He'd already done that, he said. Everything was ready for my next visit. I told him that his weekly check had been mailed yesterday, and that I'd be up Friday afternoon early, so he could "stand down" for the weekend and have some relaxation time.
I bagged-it-early at 7:30pm, taking a handful of aspirin, hoping to quell the aches and pains I had from the day, and Murphy followed me upstairs to bed.
Murphy had me up at 4am for his usual watering and feeding of the new Whiskas® Filet Mignon Paté, so I shaved and showered, made Fresh-Squeezed OJ, Sunnyside-up Eggs, Grits, Home Fries & Yellow Saffon Gravy, had a Banana, and made French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee. I scanned the weather and news sites and it indeed looked like "Fall weather" was returning; the warmer days and nights were disappearing and Winter wouldn't be too very far off. I was tired from all the MD MG Ladies yesterday, hand-writing all purchases, making change from a bank deposit bag, and sore from loading trucks and continuing to clean-out my Office. Still lots to do and no one to help. It would be a long Fall and Winter, until I got all of this done myself, I'm thinking. Time for a dumpster.
It was still a "balmy" 43°F outside, but damp and raw from yesterday's ¼" of rain, so I turned-up the Condo heat to 78°F to take the chill-off. I left at 6:15am, stopped at Sheetz® to get another coffee, and got a "free one" from the nice lady at the counter. After caught behind 2 frigging school busses making 17 damned stops to pick-up slovenly, fat, obese kids with backpacks, who should be walking the 3-4 miles to their school – in the 50s & 60s, I walked 5-7 miles each way to Grade School/Jr High School/High School, rain/snow/shine; whatever – I finally got to work at 7am, opened-up and began to survey yesterday's "sales carnage" as well as what needed to be done today. I had 7 huge, full HD Contractor's Garbage Bags waiting for next Tuesday's pick-up, and needed to move them away from the side door, where I load them into my Jeep, for the ride down to the curbside pick-up. After cleaning-out my Office's 8 cupboards and 1 closet, I still had the closet full of office supplies to deal with. I don't know what I'm going to do with all that stuff which Dad bought at Staples, over the years.
Oh crap: contaminated *Peanut Butter* recall! Oh wait, it's the 16-ounce jars of its Smucker's® "Natural Peanut Butter Chunky", which I don't eat, sold in Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. I eat JIF® Creamy, and that's not affected. Whew!
I'm now working on the 8th 9th 10th HD Contractor's Bag of "stuff" from filing cabinets, cupboards and other closets, and it's going to be easily enough to fill one of these 12ft x 8ft x 4ft dumpsters. I might need 2 by the time it's all over and done with; who knows? My shoulders, neck and back are hurting now, from sorting and lugging stuff going way back to 1990, which Mom, Dad and I "pack-ratted away", and now I'm dealing with it all. I should have cleaned-out this place every 1-2 years, but there was seemingly "always a need for it, sometime", so we kept it all. Now, I regret it, bigtime. Dad finally arrived around 10am, and we went through more boxes, files etc, which we decided not to keep, and I began loading it all into the HD Bags.
Ann and Tiiu, two of the wonderful MD Lady Master Gardeners from Thursday's large Club visit, showed-up in Ann's venerable '68 Ford V8 green pick-up truck, and we loaded-in all her Thursday puchases, plus some new ones from today. Tiiu, her fellow-ette Master Gardener, also bought some once-expensive Horticultural Reference Books, for a song-and-a-dance. They both got "bargains galore" and I know they'll put them to good use. Plus, they want 300-400 of my metal plant ID signs ($1.00/each for all if they take them for their Ag Center, in Maryland. It was my distinct pleasure to help them and all their cohorts, yesterday. At least all the crates, books, hand tools etc will go to good use in educating people about a field I love dearly: Horticulture & Gardening. They were also kind enough to invite me to their "Plant Sale" next May 23rd, which I will attend.
The contract diggers were finished with their loads for today around 2pm, so Dad and I closed-down and left. They'll be back tomorrow and probably Monday, to get it done, since they were rained-out yesterday. I had a couple of errand-stops to make on the way home, along with several boxes of stuff I found in my other 6 cupboards and clothes closet. I'm far from finished, but am getting closer with each passing day and week. I appreciate Sweet Sherry;s offer to "help", but this is "an unpleasant *task* which I have to do myself", to clear-up my business, and I don't wish to burden others with it. It's my "cross to bear".

After the day's early and frenetic activity and packing for tomorrow's trip, I was tired, and laid down on the LR Couch for a "short nap", waking-up in the dark at 4:45pm. Murphy wanted to be watered and re-fed, so I did both, after splashing some cold water on my face to "wake-up" and get going again. I ran a complete Malwarebytes Scan on all internal and 3 external drives, finding no malware, which took almost 2 hours. Next, I have to run one on my Office's internal and WD® "My Book" 2Tb External Drive; that'll be tomorrow.
With the Condo's heat at a toasty 78°F, I began drinking some cold Ocean Spray® Diet Blueberry-Pomegranate Juice and eating cold Sherbet, to stay awake, while I finished this "Journal" entry, re-watched Tom Selleck in "Jesse Stone: No Remorse", and decided to listen to the last hour or so, of "The Mark Levin Show" (6-9pm EST) on The Mark Levin (ESQ) Live Net Stream, from 7:30-9pm. Everything was laid-out for a leisurely breakfast and coffee, so I quit for the day and hit-the-sack.

The principle of conservatism – note the small "c" – is to conserve institutions. When those institutions fail, we should not adhere to them because they exist. We should understand why they fail, and take appropriate action to ensure the principles of those institutions prevail. We do not defend or condemn individuals because they associate with those institutions, but we do indeed need to reform them, understanding that individuals may be further harmed by them, if they're not reformed. The Pennsylvania State University is an institution worth preserving, not for its football program, but for its dedication to the development of young men and women. If PSU would rather choose to preserve and conserve its football program at the expense of basic human morality, then let it choose to do so. It is a simple choice.
The sad thing is, the people breaking the rules are not punished. They make the penalty harsh but they punish those who have no way to police or monitor or even know what happened until after the fact. The "perps" go on to make their millions while the university and the program suffers. Here is a case where truly horrific things were happening on campus, apparently people knew but looked the other way. I think NCAA has to get involved but am glad the university is taking swift independent action. It will take decades to shake this off.
