My Sub-Chapter S-Corp taxes go from 36.5% to 54%, on January 1st. My PA state taxes — workmen's comp insurance, unemployment, payroll, electricity, gas and other utilities — go up from 11-80%! They're killing me! I may have to reconsider Sub-Chapter S-Corp and become an LLC, to avoid some of that increase, making my workers "independent subcontractors", which will soon be outlawed, if the fat, bloated, corrupt criminal PA Gov Rendell makes his "payback to the corrupt, criminal unions scum. Or, it may just become too unprofitable just to do business, and I'll fold-up the tent, and go home.
It's said that we're moving to Obama's socialism. But "socialism is just communism, sold be the glass." And I'll fight that transition with ***everything*** I have!

Friday and Saturday were cold and rainy from the 3-day Nor-easter storm, and retail customers were noticeably absent. I re-scheduled two multiple tree installations from Friday, and closed very early on both days. No sense in wasting LPG heat, electricity and any employees' time. Without any sales, the day becomes a losing expense. I went home, lit a gas fire and worked on the gdnctr v4.0 website. D•••• called at 3pm with some "changes" in my logo, which I didn't like. A much deeper red, or leave it alone, was my choice.
I just found AMC-TV, also with lots of really great movies: "Stargate", "Lethal Weapon 2-3-4", "Blackhawk Down", "Behind Enemy Lines", "First Blood", "Jarhead" and a ton of other movies. Lots of flicks to waste more time on in the evenings. Works for me!
By Sunday morning, the Nor-easter had moved up into New England and we began the drying-out process after 3 ½" of rain. Northern Baltimore County (MD), to the southwest of us, got 1" Of snow, and many areas in upstate PA got up to 10" of snow. Retail traffic was scant, and we closed-down at 4pm for the day.
Somehow, I set my alarm for 5am instead of 6am, and wound-up getting into work at 7am. Driving to work in the dark was an adventure; reminds me of Wintertime hours. I reviewed the week's landscape jobs and tree installations with Alan, my LSCP Foreman, and settled back into my large, leather office chair for a nap. By 4pm, I felt as though I was coming down with the flu, and went home early.
Uh-oh. The NWS (National Weather Service) in State College, PA, says we're in for a real bad Winter, like 2003, with lots of Nor'easters, heavy snow and much colder weather. That was the fateful year that three of my six massive quonset GHs went down, causing over $42,000 in damage.
Back on June 27th, I bought 3 copies of Windows 7 Professional for $99 each, and have been notified to come get them at my local Best Buy store. My friend and Windows Guru, Jeff, is going to 'clean install' Windows 7, of his home and office machines, after nuking Win-XP, and then he'll help me to my two machines. He'll do the 'missionary work' and make my transition to Win-7 far smoother and easier.

I took Wednesday off, since Mom & Dad had dr's appointments on Thursday, and Jennifer is off on Friday — my day for payroll etc, anyway — so I slept-in until 12:30pm, shaved, showered, went food shopping, and rested-up from the stomach/ intestinal flu.
Dad was off Thursday, so Jennifer & I handled the retail traffic, which got busy in the early afternoon, all at once. I did several LSCP estimates, and had to re-re-revise the customers'' estimates who'd come in to select their plant material, and revise their monthly payments, based upon all the new numbers. By 4:40pm, I'd had enough and closed-down and left.
My Jeep has just gotten it engine parts after 9 days of using a Ford Focus rental car, which I despise. Fishel Automotive, nay Chrysler-Jeep dealer anymore, isn't on any priority list, anymore, so all of us existing Jeep owners are getting f•cked with parts. I hope to get it back tomorrow, or my freaking head's going to explode! I NEED DUCT TAPE!!!

Many Journal entries are best viewed in the Charrington Roughened and the Orlando typefaces. You may already have Century Gothic on your Windows-XP machine, and that's almost always used for the body copy or subheads, so grab it, if you don't already have it; you're reading it now. They're free from my website. Grab 'em! Save them to your HD, and install to C:/Windows/Fonts (folder), thru your WIN XP Control Panel > Fonts > File > Install New Font. Simple stuff; just takes a few minutes.
Here are a few others, which my Journal will be written in during the coming weeks: Papyrus and Acoustic Bass, and Caesar Regular and Carleton and Charrington Strewn and Catherine. Get and install them, and see how much nicer these pages are to view and read. Plus, they add to your repertoire of available fonts in MS-Word, as WIN-XP System Fonts, so you can use them for your daily documents etc.

CO2 is not a significant greenhouse gas; 95% of the contribution is due to Water Vapor. Man's contribution to Greenhouse Gasses is relatively insignificant. We didn't cause the recent Global Warming and we cannot stop it. Solar Activity appears to be the principal driver for Climate Change. O2 is a useful trace gas in the atmosphere, and the planet would actually benefit by having more, not less of it, because it is not a driver for Global Warming and would enrich our vegetation, yielding better crops to feed the expanding population. CO2 is not causing global warming, in fact, CO2 is lagging temperature change in all reliable datasets. The cart is not pulling the donkey. Wake-up, folks.

So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerized temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Since August, London has played host — knowingly or not — to a race of tiny beings. But this Lilliputian populace doesn't appear to harbor hostility toward its over-sized human counterpart. In fact, its members seem to indulge in moments that are all too human. For instance, they've been caught dreaming of faraway places. Or feeling lonely and, sometimes, a wee bit lustful. They linger on park benches, search fervently for public restrooms, and now and then loiter at bars, hoping that the bartenders will serve them soon. Sadly, some of them are forced to beg. Others have suffered random violence. According to this site that tracks the small souls, they've been abandoned in the great city "to fend for themselves." I can only hope that someday, they find their way home.
