the world without europe

friday, january 16th, 2026

In recent years (and more recently in the Trump era), strategic and international affairs experts have spent tons of ink and paper trying to predict what the world would be like without America. Diplomatic gurus, prestigious essayists, former political leaders, and reputable publishers have dedicated blood, sweat and money to warn of all the bad things that lay ahead for Europeans when Washington looked the other way, over their heads, or retreated into itself. Titles like "The Return of the Jungle" or "The End of the West" or "A World Without America" illustrate this trend.

But we have to admit that these attempts at warning and, at the same time, expressions of fear, have turned out to be all wrong. What we are experiencing in Donald Trump's second term is not America's retreat into strategic introspection. Let them tell that to Khamenei or Maduro without going any further. Nor is it strategically a languishing of the West towards irrelevance. Today, America is stronger, richer and better prepared for today's technological revolution than it was four years ago.

No. What the pundits have been unable or unwilling to see, possibly motivated by their excess of mental Eurocentrism, is the reality of the situation:

It is not America that is leaving the world, it is Europe, in fact, that is leaving it. It is not America that is leaving the world, it is Europe, in fact, that is leaving it.

Instead of writing about a world without America, it would have been better if they had thought about a world without Europe. They would have better prepared us for the challenges that all Europeans have to face.

First of all, Europe has a serious military problem for which it has no solution: Ukraine. Eager to satisfy Joe Biden, they launched into a rhetorical escalation of support for Zelensky to the end and, logically, of confrontation with the Kremlin, without having the will or ability to deliver on their promises. Without the United States—and Zelensky knows this well—Ukraine is lost. But E.U. leaders keep talking as if they are ready to launch us into World War III, except that they have neither the weapons nor the soldiers to wage it. But instead of seeking a de-escalation in rhetoric and accepting the inevitable, that only Donald Trump could force a peace agreement, however painful it might be for Ukraine, Europe continues to jump on the bandwagon of bellicosity, putting fear into its population and painting apocalyptic scenarios but little else.

Secondly, Europe has a very serious social problem that dates back decades but has been especially aggravated by the nefarious decisions of the person who was considered to be the beacon of Europe, Chancellor Angela Merkel.

And that problem has a name and last name: uncontrolled immigration and Islamism. And that problem has a name and last name: uncontrolled immigration and Islamism.

There is no country or city that does not suffer an increase of an Islamist religious minority and that does not try to impose its rules on traditional European traditions and beliefs. We see it every day in the crime figures and, very particularly, in the attacks against the integrity and safety of women. But we have also just suffered it this past Christmas with the multiple attacks on Christian symbols and in the places where families usually spend these days, Christmas markets and public squares. It is not surprising that the new U.S. security strategy warns that if Europe does not change course by 2040, it will no longer be Europe.

Third, Europe suffers from a serious problem of economic and technological backwardness. Instead of being a paradise of development, it has only known how to regulate and regulate until it completely suffocates any hint of innovation. It is neither in the A.I. race, nor in space, nor in energy. The fight against the big American tech companies and the E.U.'s eagerness to tax them, more a product of its own impotence than of a desire for retributive justice, drives the Old Continent further and further away from the future. Worse still, the fear of American abandonment, if not disgust at the figure of President Trump, leads to a suicidal embrace of China, as if electric cars from Xi Jinping did not come burdened with totalitarianism and desires for global domination. As long as the E.U. bureaucracy remains the dominant source of industrial legislation, European nations are doomed to fail.

Either the E.U. gives up its ambitious energy agenda or it runs out of energy. There are no other options.

Fourth, Europe is a prisoner of its bad energy decisions and its commitment to the so-called "energy transition," which was supposed to put Europe at the forefront of decarbonization. What was never said is that in addition to the trillion-dollar bill for that step, the whole scheme rested on guaranteed access to Russian gas and liquefied natural gas from the Gulf. The confrontation with Russia and the sanctions closed that access and the taxes on hydrocarbons of all kinds threaten the main supplier, Qatar, to stop selling to Europe.

Either the E.U. gives up its ambitious energy agenda or it runs out of energy. There are no other options.

For the moment, it has already backtracked on the ban on combustion cars set for 2030, just around the corner. The allergy to nuclear power fueled by Merkel and the entire European left doesn't help either.

Finally, Europe has a serious political problem. Having been created as the paradise on earth of freedom and welfare, its continuous problems in making its promises a reality have led to growing authoritarianism, an institutional system that tends to fortify the establishment and to condemn any other option that does not agree with what has been called the "social democratic consensus," namely less nation, more State, more taxes, more regulation and more social control.

And worst of all, a world without America would be uninhabitable, but a world without Europe would hardly suffer.. But if all that seemed to be accepted by citizens, it was in exchange for two vital things: security and prosperity. None of that is offered today.

On the contrary, Europeans are becoming less rich and more poor and feel assaulted on their soil and threatened by another foreseeable great war. Without a change in the continent's political elites, it is very difficult for Europe to emerge from the current impasse. Unfortunately, E.U. leaders are hellbent on preventing such a change. Hence their growing authoritarianism and their disdain for the deep values of democracy. Spain is a particularly acute case in this area, as its current prime minister has transformed Spanish democracy into a completely hollow shell of values and respect for democratic procedures. But the United Kingdom is going in the same direction, not to mention France and Germany. People are being arrested for praying in the street, but only if they are Christians; people are being fined and imprisoned for giving opinions contrary to government policies because any criticism is judged a hate crime, especially if it deals with immigration. It aspires to judicially eliminate opposition leaders outside the establishment and promotes the illegalization of parties that are not part of the grand consensus born after World War II.

But while this incipient "cold civil war" is taking place, Europe has become invisible as an actor in the rest of the world. It is not a player in the Middle East (for the better); it aligns itself against dictatorial change (see statements on the capture of Maduro or on the Iranian regime); and it believes that by getting cocky in front of its main ally, the United States, it becomes stronger. In Moscow and Beijing, there must be many people laughing loudly.

And worst of all, a world without America would be uninhabitable, but a world without Europe would hardly suffer.

This is the sad fate of a continent that has bet on its own demise. It wanted to be the great regulator and beacon of the world but is instead committing suicide homeopathically, all while the rest of the world yawns indifferently.

A Day In The Life.

Up at 8:30a on Friday, a mild 43°F, overcast, breezy morning, I upped the heat, made coffee, fired-up the Win-7 Pentium HP Desktop to let its 32 million lines of code load, had breakfast, had a couple smokes in the garage and checked the leftover errands list. I scanned the weather and the rapidly-breaking news, tuned into the "CP Show LIVE" at 9, and relaxed for the morning.

No errands today, so I made a sumptuous lunch, and did a couple of small condo chores. Sherry's still down with the flu, so we'll be looking to next week for any visits. Light rain arrived around 11a, and continued into the evening. I had a nice 1hr nap on the LR couch, and finished-off the last of the morning's very tasty "Columbian Supremo" Coffee. I watched the evening news, switched to Discovery's "Gold Rush" and "Gold Rush: Mine Resacue", until 1a, and quit for the night.

Up at 8:30a on Saturday, a heavily-overcast, windy, rainy, 41° morning, as another storm front moved into the area, I upped the heat, made coffee, had a couple smokes in the garage, and fired-up the HP Desktop to scan the news and weather. The Minneapolis, and now a growing number of other cities, pre-riots "demonstrations" continue, with the Rent-A-Lefty Mobs. Swell. The rain continued.

I worked on finishing-up the pile of paperwork on my desk and, with my eyes crossed from reading all that crap, tired and hit the LR couch for 3hrs. Dark when I got bck up, I closed the condo, made some dinner, watched the news and switched to MT's "Vagas Rat Rods" and History's "unXplained Mysteries" until the 11p late news, and called it a day. Lights out.

Up at 8:15a on Sunday, a sunny, clear, cold 36°, windy morning, in severe pain so I took a 250mg Bayer Aspirin and a 50mg Tramadol, upped the heat, made coffee and did some leg exercises to lessen the Sciatica and Neuropathy pain. That helped. I got ready for the day, skipped breakfast, went right to Chili & Cornbread for lunch, did the laundry and a couple condo chores.

I spent the afternoon doing 2 loads of laundry, watched History's "ASmerican Pickers" into the evening, had dinner and unplugged around 12:30a,

Up at 8a on Monday, a clear, sunny, cold 29°, upped the heat, made coffee, had a few smokes in the garage No pain today! I tuned into the "CP Show LIVE", and relaxed. I worked on gathering receipts and paperwork for the 2025 IRS Taxes, for the rest of the day. Email wasn't working, as connection to the iMap Server kept timing out. I don't know how to fix that. It's on the IP (InterNet Provider's) end, not mine.

I made dinner, watched the evening news, and switched to Discovery's MT's "Iron Resurrection", "History's Greatest Mysteries and TWC's "Prime Suspect: Earth", until 1a. Lights out.

Up at 8:15a on Tuesday, a clear, sunny, cold 23° morning. I upped the heat, made coffee and tuned into the "CP Show LIVE" from 9-12. Still no email. I did 2 local errands, came back, had lunch and finished a condo chore from yesterday. I had a huge lunch, dialed-up my special relaxtion music on YT, and it the LR couch for 3hrs. Surprised me, too. I watched the 6p evening news, switched to History's "Curse of Oak Island" and "Mysteries Unearthed" until 12:30a, and bagged it for the day.

Awake and up at 5a, 0-DARK THIRTY, on a drizzly, 31° Wednesday morning, I made coffee -- new Kenya AA (Arabica bean) -- upped the heat, and scanned the weather and news on my Ol' HP Desktop. I tuned into the usual "CP Show" from 9-12, had lunch, and did 2 nearby errands. By 5p, it was dark -- where'd the day go? -- and made dinner. I watched the 6p evening news, and switched to watch the evening news and switched to Discovery's "Expedition Files" until 1a. Lights out.

Up at 8a on Thursday, a windy, clear, sunny, cold 23° morning, I upped the heat, made coffee, had a couple smokes in the cold garage, and tuned into the usual "CP Show", from 9-12. This video pretty much sums-up my feelings about the assholes in the third world Minneapolis shithole (((SIGH))).

My head explodes every time I hear this crap, and the SCOTUS moron bimbo Jackson, who refused to answer “What is a woman?” And now this crap: Can men get pregnant? Remembher the old Monthy Python "Loretta" skit? Life in demonKKKrat-land is imitating art, once again

I had lunch, Sherry -- feeling better after a bout with the nasty flu -- arrived at 1p, and we had almost 3hrs to catch-up on the last 2+ weeks, since we'd been together. So many things just got in the way. She left well before dark, to get an errand done, and I closed down the condo, as temps dropped into the low-20s. I watched the evening news, had dinner, and switched to History's "Ancient Aliens" until 1a. Lights out.

Tomorrow starts a new week, here in the "Journal", and except for a haircut, is another clear one for me. We'll talk over the weekend, and get some day(s) set up for us.

Permission Granted: Go Kill Yourself.

Historians of the future, grilling beaver-tail paninis over their campfires, will look back in wonder and nausea at the madness of America — and other regions of Western Civ — in the raging 2020s. It will be clear by then that it was largely a female hysteria, like other departures from social sanity in the annals of the Homo sapiens, such as the outbreak of witchery in the Massachusetts Colony, 1692, the Dancing Plague of Strasbourg, 1518, and the lunacy of Meowing and Biting Nuns that spread through the convents of Europe in the 1400s.

The Lefty-left has devised what’s called a “permission structure” for women to take the lead in acting-out the concocted grievances of their show-runners in the Democratic Party who, in times gone by, once had a coherent political program, but are now chiefly concerned with staying out of jail. I speak of those two orbiting moons, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and their many subalterns, such as John Podesta, Lisa Monaco, Norm Eisen, Adam Schiff. . . you know the huge cast of characters. A macrosocial cluster B crisis is ripping this nation apart because Leftism has hijacked the minds of progressive females who then LARP out dangerous Gnostic heroic delusions.

In 2020, they put their African-American clients in the vanguard, hoping to provoke Mr. Trump into a bloody suppression of the George Floyd riots. Didn’t really work, though the riots were a grand distraction from Marc Elias’s behind-the-scenes nefarious setup to queer the balloting process in that year’s election — a thumping success! All that mischief propelled brain-dead “Joe Biden” into the Oval Office, the perfect stooge to front for Hillary and Obama in their campaign to disorder the US body politic.

None of that worked for them in 2024, though, and only, apparently, because Elon Musk got wind of some election-hacking signals from a bunker in Serbia, and somehow managed to put the kibosh on its functionality. . . but that’s another story not quite yet spun for the public. Anyway, Mr. Trump got back into the Oval Office and now there is — forgive the cliché – hell to pay. Folks looking at jail time, famous folks, folks previously inoculated against such a fate. And it’s driving them batshit crazy. What on earth to do?

As it happens, enough Americans are sick and tired of the race hustle that its antics no longer avail the Democratic Party in stirring up animus against order, so now the party sends its women out onto the front lines to bang on police car windows, scream at the officers to perform sex acts on themselves, and impede their duties. In the course of all that action, one of them, Renee Nicole Good, got shot last week gunning her Honda Pilot at officer Jonathan Ross.

Ms. Good’s female wife, Becca Good, wailed in the aftermath, “I made her come down here, it’s my fault.” Come down to do what? To play a part in the show. To use Renee’s Honda Pilot to block the street so that ICE agents couldn’t do their job (which is removing illegal immigrants for processing and deportation). Who told Becca that was a good idea? The Lefty-left’s permission structure told her. So, Becca played her part in the show, ostentatiously recording a video of the scene, yelling taunts at the officers, telling her wife, Renee, to disobey the officer’s command to “get out of the car” and instead to drive away. Becca will have that on her conscience forever, alas. Bet you wouldn’t want to be her.

What is it in American women these days that makes them susceptible to such a demonic permission structure that the Lefty-left uses to make them pawns in this game? Most obviously, American women are less and less inclined to enter healthy relations with men. Why is that? Probably several reasons. American men are less and less good husband material — except at society’s tippy-top where they make obscene amounts of money in activities that are, frankly, pretty antisocial when you look hard — like, running monopolies, inducing the entire population into ill health, and selling out their country. The great wad of men in the classes below the tippy-top face ever-reduced opportunities to make a living, let alone support a wife and children.

Both American men and women are working pretty hard to make themselves sexually unappealing. Obesity is epidemic now that the national diet consists almost entirely of pizza and soda pop. You have to wonder how the idea of facial piercings, nose-rings, and massive tattoos caught on. Half the women in this country look like they could be harpooneers on the whaler Pequod. Meanwhile, the tubby men with no prospects can occupy themselves with free porn on their phones — which, you might admit, kind of cuts down on their motivation to even try to meet real women, let alone protect and care for them.

The result of all this dysfunction is a society with deeply disrupted relations between men and women, people who can’t produce children — or, by happenstance, as in the case of Renee Nicole Good, two children who did not live with her — people of both sexes who can’t enact the basic roles of human adulthood, people of both sexes who can hardly find gainful employment, and you end up with a land of broken people, broken families, and behavior that verges into madness.

And these broken people are egged on to self-destruction by the cynical managers of a criminal political party desperate to hide its crimes and avoid prosecution. When the arraignments begin, the derangements will ebb. Just watch and see.
