And that brings us to Obama's so-called “reset” policy with Russia, perhaps the single most odious and disastrous foreign policy since Chamberlain’s appeasement of Hitler. Obama's weakness and appeasement on Russia encouraged Putin to believe he was nearly omnipotent in post-Soviet space and could do as he pleased. Last week alone, it cost nearly 300 innocent lives.
Yet Obama didn't apologize or even acknowledge the fault in his prior policies, nor did he take a single step towards reversing them as Russians scurried to bury the evidence of their heinous crime – scurried just as they did when they murdered thousands of Polish officers in the Katyn forest during World War II and tried to blame it on Hitler.
In a criminally negligent manner that has now cost at least one American life, Obama ignored clear, loud, repeated warnings from NATO that Russia was providing SAM technology to Ukrainian rebels, who now can only be called terrorists, and teaching them how to use it. He responded only with feeble economic sanctions at which Putin merely laughed. One of the world’s impost important aviation highways is in the skies above Ukraine, and now the world can't use it. His presidency ran aground last week, all of his credibility vanished and he stood before the world looking like the unqualified, helpless, clueless oaf that many of us warned about, before he was first elected on that terrible day in November, 2008.
History will indeed be the final arbiter and judge.
A Day In The Life
I can't believe that I had the Condo's furnace on Friday morning, at 6am. 50°F outside was downright nippy. With the usual coffee, and OJ, I checked the news and weather sites, and tried again to get my Comcast email account working. Not being a slouch on such stuff, I noticed that the POP3 (incoming) and SMTP (outgoing) server settings in my email app, Thunderbird, were screwed-up, and was neither receiving nor sending from my machine. Luckily, I had the code saved on my WD® "My Book" 2Tb External Drive, retrieved it, and reset Thunderbird. Viola! 267 emails stacked-up in the queue, and downloading. Yikes; I'll get back to wading thru that mess later. I had a 9:30am meeting with Becky's landscape company's owner, and had to get it, some corporate tax work to take over from Dad, and get other things done. Back home by 11:45am, I saw a Comcast/Xfinity truck down the street, walked down and explained my problem, and he called his office to get the okay to make an unscheduled stop,
For lunch, I had 2 Classic BLTs w/ Avocado, and chips, listened to a boring sub-host for Rush, and went out for a walk around the area, for 2hrs. High for the day was only 78°F, and it felt like an early October Fall day. After a handful of aspirin for the bicep pain, I had the 2014 School Taxes Bills for my combined and attached 20 (6.1ac/ $257 & 13.9ac/ $956) GC&N Property, to write 2 Payment #1 checks for, and get them ready for mailing by Sept 9th. So I prepared the documents' 2 check & stub, in a single envelope for the North Hopewell Tax Collector. I'll make copies tomorrow on Dad's copier, for my records, and wait until just a week before "Face" date, to mail them in September. Two more payments for October and November will follow. I'm still wading thru old email, while the new ones pour-in. I listened to the morning's missed Chris Plante Show Podcast from 3-6, the Mark Levin Show from 6-9, and On the morning ride, I noticed that gas/diesel prices at the pump, had decreased another 4¢/gal, since way back on Friday, July 11th: Unleaded Regular (87 oct) is now at $3.61/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) at $3.71/gal, Premium (93 oct) at $3.91/gal, and Diesel Fuel/Kerosene K-2 is at $4.15/gal, at most stations in the York (PA) area. afterward, I listened to a superb Classical Music for Winter, until 11:45pm, from whence I called it a day. With the Condo armed, computer closed down and kitchen set-up for breakfast, I trundled-off to sleep, upstairs.
Up at 6:30am on Saturday, I had yet another "I can't believe that I had the Condo's furnace on in mid-July" moment, as the Condo was chilly at 64°F, and the outdoor temp was 61°F. With OJ

After flushing-out the food shopping lists for Weis Market at 10am, I decided to transfer my favorite 60s & 70s R&R Songs of the era, to the Windows Media Player library folder, from YouTubes' vast storehouse. That took until 11:30pm, as I worked on paying specifically-aged bills, adding-in and resetting the paying order with the new tax bills, and doing a load of laundry. By 12:30am, I decided to bag it for the day. Tomorrow's a 2-load-laundry day, change the bed, and a food trip.

Sunday at 6:30am was a more seasonable 64°F, yet very cloudy and foggy. My left arm muscles were hurting again, so I ate some aspirin, used the heating pad while I made coffee and had some Del Monte® Mixed Cherry Fruit. Same-o weather, and news, and still a fairly large leftover pile of unanswered email from last week, which I'm slowly plowing thru and getting sorted-out. Comcast email was 'balky' again this morning, so I checked the POP3/SMTP settings and they were okay, and just shut it down, as I started-up the MS-Back-Up/Restore function to my external drive, and left at 9:15am to go food shopping. I picked both an order for Dad and myself, delivered his, stayed to talk, and left at 11:45am to get my perishables back into the 'fridge and garage freezer. I heated-up the other BBQ, a Pulled Pit Beef, sides and potato salad, After stripping the bed, starting the loads of laundry, I went out for a walk around the neighborhood, as the sprinkles began. Meh. High for the day was 77°F.
I was back by 4pm, to get laundry folded, bed made and watched the news to see what was/wasn't happening about the shot-down MH-17 airliner. I worked on the week's "to do list", wrote out some bills, snoozed for an hour on the LR couch, and soon enough the usual Gun Talk Radio Network Show came on from 8-11pm, and the Gun Talk After Show until 11:45pm, while I followed the thread on this site. I'd had enough and closed down at 12-midnight, armed the Condo, and went up to sleep.
It was nice to sleep-in until 8am on Monday, a cloudy, 68°F start to the week. My arm was sore from sleeping on it somewhichway, so I ate some aspirin, made OJ and coffee, and checked the usual
Up at 7am, I made coffee and had some Del Monte® Cling Peaches, skipped breakfast, checked the weather, news and email. 74°F outside already. Comcast (CATV-Net service) was still 'farting and burping', so I shut it down and restarted, and a load of mail came thru. I needed to leave at 8:45 for my 9:30 Dr's app't, and so I did. And yes, I left my firearm at home in the gunsafe; sure felt nekkid without it. The regularly-scheduled 6-mos check-up went well, and I had an ultra-sound done on my left arm's bicep, at the Apple Hill Medical Center's lab. Dr will call when he gets results. By 10:30am, the cloud cover had lifted and the bright sun had jacked-up the temp: it was 84°F and climbing

I slept-in until almost 8am on Wednesday, a sunny, warm 75°F start to the forecast 95°F day, with severe t-storms. With the usual aspirin, coffee and OJ, I had one of my favorites, Soft-Boiled Eggs w/ Toast in a bowl, and checked the news, weather and up-to-now, faltering email. Yikes; another plane crash. I was listening to the usual evening Mark Levin Show from 6-9, and lost most of the first hour. The temperature dropped to 70°F by 7pm – a drop of 21°F – as the cool front from the northwest shoved its way into our area. By 10pm, I had all 11 checks written, invoices stapled to the checks, envelopes addressed in MS-Word 2007 and nicely printed via my ancient (2006) but reliable HP 1600 DeskJet Printer, all stamped and pre-sorted for trips to the USPS to get them mailed at the appropriate date. With the superb John Batchelor Show on until 11:30pm, I bagged it for the night. A lot to do after dropping-off the Jeep at S&D Automotive, at Dad's, and some arrangements to
Oversleeping on Thursday, I got up at 7am and scrambled to get OJ, coffee and what I needed to get the Jeep in for an 8:30 appointment. I made it with minutes to spare, and again, Dave kindly lent me his GMC Suburban for the day. After a few errands, I drove to Dad's, and did a number of "easy" (non-lifting for my gimpy left arm) projects for him, while his lawnmower guy was mowing and string-trimming. Back home by 11:30, I made a Lasagne for lunch, with leftovers for other meals. I took a handful of aspirin, laid down on the LR couch with the heating pad, and slept for 3 hrs. The aching arm muscle/tendon appreciated it. High for the day was 78°F. I missed Rush and the Chris Plante Show, and work-up just as the usual evening Mark Levin Show came on from 6-9pm. A couple of Conservative Friends called to talk; they'd moved to New Hampshire 5 years ago, and since we last talked, had a lot to catch-up on. By 11pm, I was getting tired, and needed to go to S&D Automotive to get my Jeep, return Dave's Suburban, and get some of my "to do list" accomplished before the weekend. Temps had already dropped to 55°F. I closed down at 11:15, armed the Condo, and went to sleep.
Sucks to be an airline carrier, right now: a 3rd airliner has gone down in the last 7 days, per this morning's news. Malaysian Air MH-17 was shot down last Thursday (7/17); then a TransAsia Airways Flight GE 222 crashed yesterday (7/23) while flying to a neighboring island from the mainland; and this morning (7/24), Air Algerie Flight 5017 went down shortly after takeoff. And then there's Malaysian MH-370, which still hasn't been found after 4 months. Is it aliens? Subhuman, murderous muslims? Coincidence? Hell if I know for sure.
Tomorrow starts a new week here in the "Journal", and right now there's only a few minor things on the schedule. First and foremost, is to let my arm's damaged muscles/tendons *heal* so I can get back to the relatively "normal life" I used to have. I've put a lot of things "on hold" until that happens. At 64, I just don't don't "bounce" and come back from such things, as I used to, years ago. Time heals all, at this point.
Conundrum.
The very definition of the word conundrum is "something that is puzzling or confusing". Here are six conundrums today, in the US:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it. That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century. Kind of makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it. And last but not least...
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to all illegal aliens?

Obama: "Entrepreneurs Don't Build Businesses"
"Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs. I was hugely-pleased, a little stunned at the secrecy, but half-expecting a juicy trove of treasures.
It is called the Center of Military History. It is located 30 minutes outside Washington, D.C., at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. The building itself is very nondescript.
But behind a series of highly alarmed doors and long, cement, camera-laden hallways. It is the highly sophisticated, climate-controlled treasure room where the army keeps its most precious artifacts.
The facility was built for $24 million in 2010. The cavernous warehouse is typically shrouded in total darkness. Motion lights illuminate only the areas in which someone is walking.
If I could get tickets, I'd fork over my first-born child. Oh wait; I don't have one. Heh. I'd go there in a heartbeat.
Some People Just Need Killing
It's not my intention to be the judge here — that's God's "job" — but rather to "hasten the meeting" so that He can send the following subhuman filth to the "Fires of Hell", "River or Lake of Sulphur", or whatever He deems appropriate. I'd gladly/happily volunteer, at no cost to any of my Hard-Working, Fellow US Taxpayers, to gladly/gleefully/happily headshoot these murderous, lowlife dirtbags of all stripes — their skin-color doesn't matter one whit to me, at all — and rid American Society's innocents — especially our too-vulnerable, precious children and the frail, defenseless elderly — of the subhuman criminals who prey upon them, once-and-for-ever. And yes, I'd rather see one innocent man convicted and executed, than 10 murderers, robbers, child rapists-murderers freed, to rob, rape and murder again. Hey, call me an "Old Fashioned Conservative"! Too harsh? Nah. Someone needs to take out the trash! I volunteer.
Society's innocents — our precious, defenseless children and the frail, defenseless elderly — must be protected from predators, murderers, rapists, robbers and other subhuman filth, at all times and at any cost, IMO.
The 6th Commandment actually says: "Thou Shalt Not Murder". It does NOT say, "Thou Shalt Not Kill." I personally don't consider any summary-execution — except by subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic pigshit — as murder, in any way, shape or form. It's "Due-Justice-For-Crimes-On-This-Earth", IMO.
