good guys aren't coming to save us

friday, may 10th, 2013

"a lot of Americans know that the US government is out of control. Anyone who has cared enough to study the US Constitution even a little knows this. Still, very few of these people are taking any significant action, and largely because of one error: They are waiting for "the good guys" to show up and fix things.

Some think that certain groups of politicians will pull it together and fix things, or that one magnificent politician will ride in to fix things. Others think that certain members of the military will step in and slap the politicians back into line. And, I'm sure there are other variations.

There are several problems with this. I'll start with the small issues:

✔ It doesn't happen.

A lot of good people have latched on to one grand possibility after another, waiting for a good guy to save the day, and it just doesn't happen. Thousands of hours of reading, writing and waiting are burned with each new “great light” who comes along with a promise to run the system in the “right” way, and give us liberty and truth. (Or whatever.) Lots of decent folks grab on to one pleasant dream after another, only to end up right back where they started… but poorer in time, energy and finances.

✔ Hope is a scam.

It's a dream of someday, somehow, getting something for nothing. People who hope do not act – they wait for other people to act. Hope is a tool to neuter a natural opposition: they sit and hope, and never act against you. Even the biblical meaning of hope is something more like expectation (or sometimes waiting) than the modern use of hope.

Petitioning an abuser for compassion. The "good guys" are considered to be a few people inside the abusive government. But if the good guys were really good, wouldn't they have dissociated themselves with an abuser some time ago? By pleading for the good guys to rise up, people are asking one sub-group of the abusers to save them from the rest of the abusers. However, they all work for the same operation; they all get paid out of the same offices; according to the same rule book. And if the good guys are so willing to turn against their employers, why would they have waited until now? Movies. We all grew up in the company of movie heroes who rode in at the last minute to save the noble victims. From John Wayne to Star Trek to Bruce Willis, the story line differs little.

These are pleasant stories, of course, but cinema is not reality, and hoping for it to become reality is something that we should get over prior to adulthood.

But, as I say, those are the smaller issues. Let's move on to the serious ones.

✔ The Magic System.

A lot of Americans believe that the American "Founders" created a system that automatically fixes itself. They talk about the "balance of powers", and think that it will always save them from a tyrant. The balanced powers of the US Constitution, however, were trashed within fifteen years and doubly-trashed just a century ago.

In the Constitution, the states balanced the power of the national government (the one now in Washington, DC.) Not only did the states control half of the legislature, but they decided if and how they would implement the edicts of the national government. And that included deciding whether a law was constitutional or not.

This changed in 1803 with the Marbury v. Madison ruling. This ruling – taught as a work of genius in American schools – was a fraud against the US Constitution. In it, the Supreme Court held that they understood the Constitution better than James Madison, the man who wrote it!

But worse than even this, they held – with absolutely no basis – that it was they who would decide what was constitutional or not. The states were tossed aside. Even the sitting President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, called it “a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy.”

Marbury's Judicial review (the Supremes ruling on constitutionality) merely involves one branch of the national government providing a check on the other branches of the national government. After Marbury, no one could check the national government.

Washington DC was unleashed with Marbury v. Madison. What made it almighty was the 17th Amendment of 1913, which took the powers of the states and transferred them to Washington, by mandating the popular election of senators.

With senators being elected directly by the populace, the states were cut-out of the equation. In their place, political parties gained massive power, and nearly all power was consolidated in the city of Washington.

And so it is today. Washington is an unfettered beast. The system will NOT fix itself; the mechanisms to do that were lost a long time ago.

✔ The Easy Way Out.

Standing up against a beast like Washington DC is scary, to be sure. Understandably, not many people want to do such a thing. But if the beast is abusing you, what other choice do you have? You can certainly avoid or evade the beast, but we all know that the beast hurts people it catches avoiding it, so the risk of doing this isn't zero either.

So, what's a person to do? They hate their abuse, but outright disobedience would be scary. Unfortunately, many people have come up with a third option: Get someone else to do it for you.

Lots of writers have done this, for example: Write flamboyantly about the abuses people face and stir them to "rise up against the power". Fairly seldom does the writer take big risks himself – he just stirs up others to do the scary stuff.

Something very similar happens to basically moral people who don't want to risk pain and suffering: they imagine good guys riding in to save them.

But, as I say, these are genuinely decent people, and they are willing to take smaller risks to help the good guys: They will spend time and money promoting them, and they will even accept name-calling in many cases. They just don't want to become full-blown rebels and outcasts.

The result of this is predictable: abuse by the political class. If the politicians show them a viable possibility every election cycle, they'll keep voting their way forever… and the hero never really has to show up.

✔ The Sad Truth.

Let's just say it: No one is going to ride in and save you.

If you want things to get better, then YOU will have to make them better. YOU will have to stand up and take the arrows, yourself. Liberty, at this stage of human development, requires risk and pain.

I trust that you will remember the end of Jesus' famous Sermon on the Mount: That it is not those who call upon his name who will be saved, but only those who DO the things he said.

Likewise in this situation, our only hope of salvation lies in DOING."

A Day In The Life

I was awake and up at 6am on Friday, again coming out of a weird dream about cats & kittens; some cold water in the face took care of that craziness. 44°F outside and 72°F inside, at least we weren't getting Winter-slammed like the Plains and Upper Midwest. I made Fresh-Squeezed OJ w/ lots of pulp, French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee (from whole, freshly-ground Starbuck's® Dark French Roast Fresh Ground Beans) with my Chemex® Drip System, and had a simple bowl of Cheerios w/ Red Raspberries for breakfast. I went thru my usual routine of news and weather websites; same-ol', same-ol'. It'll soon be time to put the front door screen insert in, and stow the massive tempered glass storm door insert in the Condo's attached shed, out back. Email from my CPA informed me that he and the staff had to get late corporate taxes done next, and then they'd get to my personal returns, since I'd already filed the 3 extensions for local

area, state and federal. They're overworked and understaffed and I don't know why they don't add some more help during "tax season", but they seem to want to keep it in the family. Not much I can do now except be even more patient.

With the Friday, April 26th Auction being an outright disaster, 90% of what was going thru my mind was "what to do now, and how to fix it", and not much else. I had a list of people I'd promised to help with landscaping and gardening, and other projects, but somehow, not much of that mattered anymore. I have to get that "turned around" and re-focus on those promises to others. My problems can wait a little while longer.

From January 1996 to May 2013, that's 17 years at 52 entries per year, there have been 887 in the "Journal", so far.

Dad called me at 3pm; he was having some pretty bad chest pains, and I dropped everything and rushed him to York Hospital's Emergency Room, where we spent 7-8hrs waiting, getting tested, waiting, filling-out forms, waiting, getting more tests, waiting and we finally got him up to his room, for an overnight stay. Two cardiac Docs tended to him, until a cardio-vascular surgeon could see him in the morning. I'll go back over at 10-12, or when they call with test results. I got home at 11:55pm, took some aspirin, opened the computer and checked the day's news and tomorrow's weather forecast, and went to bed. Tomorrow could be a hectic day.

After a lousy and truncated night's sleep, I was up at 5am on Saturday, had a quick breakfast of coffee, OJ and bowl of Cap'n Crunch w/ blueberries, drove to Dad's to pack some extra clothes, shaving gear etc, and finally got to York Hospital, by 10am. He'd already undergone the balance to the tests and we waited almost

4hrs for the results, before they decided to discharge him, with some medical cautions, in writing. I brought him home and he's glad to be out of that place, although the professional medical personnel are truly wonderful and dedicated people, they're overworked and understaffed on weekends, IMO, as the place was half-empty of staff, including the ER. After getting him settled-in back in at home, I came back to my Condo and took a 2-3hr snooze, since I didn't sleep very well on Friday night. I called at 7pm to check on him, and he'd already gone to bed; it was a really rough night for him, being hooked-up to 10 electrodes and an IV unit. For the balance of the evening, I put my morning food shopping list together, listened to some Chris Plante Show Podcasts on (WMAL-DC), and called it a night at 9pm.

With it getting light at 5:40am these days, it's sometimes difficult for me to sleep much later, especially when I have a lot on my mind, even that early in the morning. I was up at 5:30am on Sunday, made coffee, had some Del Monte® Mandarin Oranges and Ham, Home Fries & Eggs, for breakfast. After scanning the news and weather sites, I answered a lot of emails about Dad's condition, from the Friday afternoon/evening hospital trip, re-checked my food shopping list for the morning's trip to Weis Market, in East York – I added a bunch of stuff for Dad, so he wouldn't have too much to get when he went during the week – and reset the System Back-Up/Restore to 8am. 41°F and nippy outside, but soon to be in the low-70s. I picked-up the week's mail at the CHCA Community Mailbox, and left at 7:45 for Weis.

It was a little more crowded at 8am than it usually is at 7am, at Weis, but I filled my list for Dad and myself, and sailed thru in 25mins. I went home, unpacked, and checked the Back-Up/Restore Program, rebooted and ran the MalwareBytes scan, and left for Dad's at 9:45. He was looking good, had slept 14hrs, I put away his groceries and we visited or a couple of hours. He's got a cardio-vascular doc's app't this week at Apple Hill Medical Center. I set-up his Back-Up/Restore program to run at 12noon, and left for Rite-Aid to pick-up a waiting Rx. I listened to Mark Levin Show Podcasts all afternoon while writing-out bills, doing the 2nd Qtr Condo Budget, and some chores.

Tomorrow's laundry day, bed linen change, clean bathrooms and kitchen, since my cleaning ladies won't be in for another 2 weeks; it's vacation time for them and their families. Gun Talk Radio came on a several-hour-delayed stream from 8-11pm; I lasted until 11:45pm, and called it a day. I'd no more than gotten upstairs and the entire area of East York went dark. Totally dark as far as the eye could see, from my 2nd story BR. I thought we'd had an EMP hit, lit some of my many pillar (3"x9") candles so I could see what I was doing, but the power came back on in 20-25 mins. Met-Ed Co had a major power outage.

I finally slept-in until 7:30am on Monday; very, very nice, for a change. I made coffee, OK and Quaker® Instant Original Oatmeal for breakfast, grabbed a quick shower, fresh clothes and began the usual "Monday Laundry" routine. Met-Ed Co called to explain and apologize for last night's power outage. I started 1-of-3-loads, stripped the bed, mopped bathroom and kitchen floors, and listened to the live stream of Chris Plante Show on (WMAL-DC), while working on "Condo chores". It was a cool, cloudy day at just 46°F, with rain forecast for this afternoon and the next 2-3 days and nights. By 12:30pm, I had 80% of the laundry done, but had to run some errands and visit Dad while the last loads were washing/drying.

I drove to the local PNC Bank to make a deposit, went over to Dad's at 12:30pm, dropped-off some food and other things for him, visited a short while and came back to get the dreaded laundry loads done. I had other things to do, but they'll have to wait until tomorrow or later in the week. Temps had hit 60°F, but it was cloudy and very cool, as the Nor'Easter t-storms approached from the south and southeast. I kept one of my 16 warm Pendleton® Woolen Shirts on, all-day. I had the Condo windows wide open to air it out – because it's the coldest Spring on-record since 1975, I'm still waiting 2-3 weeks to put-on the large screen insert for

the front glass storm door – and get some fresh air thru before the rains came. I listened to Rush until 3pm, some previously-missed Chris Plante Show Podcasts on (WMAL-DC), and had some of my homemade 3-Alarm Chili for lunch, and the Mark Levin Show from 6-9pm. Nothing worth watching on CATV, so I shut-down and headed up to bed around 10pm.

Another good night's sleep, until 7:30am on Tuesday. After a few aspirin, I noticed that it was a balmy 54°F outside. I fed the birds, made OJ, coffee and had Ham, Eggs & Hash Browns for breakfast. After listening to the live stream of Chris Plante Show on (WMAL-DC), I spent the afternoon cleaning/oiling my Class III (SBR, Suppressor) AR-15 Rifle and Suppressor, replacing the AA batteries in the A-6 Red Laser & Flashlight on the 4-sided Picatinny Rail, and in the EoTech Scope. It was quite a job and took 5½-6-hrs. After washing-up, I took a lunch break for a Roast Beef Sandwich w/ Cheese & Chips. I called my extended Family, Stacey & Dave, at my favorite S&D Automotive to make a Jeep Spring service appointment for Wed 15th. Then back to finish re-assembling the AR-15, until 5:30pm. By then, showers were moving through the area, and temps hit 65°F. I listened to the Mark Levin Show from 7-9pm, and stayed-up until 10pm to re-listen to the first hour of Levin. By 10:15, I was nodding-off, and called it a day. It was still raining.

I was glued to the TV watching the "Benghazi Hearings" all day on C-SPAN3. Only they and Fox News covered it; the rest of the media ignored it. Here's FR's live thread.

After a kitten rescue dream, I was up at 6am on Wednesday, to a cloudy, rainy, 59°F day. I made coffee, had some Del Monte® Red Grapefruit Sections and a bowl of Shredded Wheat w/ Fruit, for breakfast. I scanned the usual weather and news sites, and remembered to call Dad at 9am

about his app't with the cardio-vascular surgeon at Apple Hill Medical Ctr. I listened to the live stream of Chris Plante Show on (WMAL-DC), while talking to Dad, and returning calls to several other people who'd left messages on my cellphone, since I turn it off at 7pm. Nothing important or critical, since they all have my Condo number if they really need to reach me in the evenings. I wrote-out checks for some bills, worked on the Condo's Revised 2nd Qtr Budget got 2 emails of pending USPS deliveries for stuff I'd ordered. Dad didn't need me to come over, so after talking with him about a few things on the phone, I just stayed home and relaxed. I had a simple Egg & Olive Salad Sandwich for lunch. My left hip was giving me some problems, so I ate a handful of aspirin, used an ice-pak and took a nap on the LR couch at 3pm, for a couple hours.

The booming t-storms woke me up around 5:15pm, and I groggily scrambled off the couch and around the Condo to close the open windows and back screen door, during the downpour and ¼" hail. The Mark Levin Show was on from 6-9pm, and I re-watched the replays on C-SPAN, from 9-10pm. I was so PO'd all day from hearing about the lies, crime and treason committed by 0scumbag & Hitlery, my eyes were spitting blood. I called it a night at 10:30pm. Much more will be coming out over the next week or so, but mark my words, nothing will happen to either of those two traitors. Their underlings will take the fall under the bus. It will all disappear down a "rabbit hole", as usual. Anyway, I needed sleep.

Thursday morning was another cloudy, "balmy" 51°F, drizzly day, when I got up at 6am. I made the usual French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, OJ and had a bowl of Cheerios w/ Red Raspberries for breakfast. I scanned the weather and news sites, decided to drive over to Weis Market Gas-N-Go, and use the 30¢ off/ gal I had as a shopping credit, and then stop by Dad's to visit. He had some computer work he needed done, so I

transferred some genealogy files from an old HP laptop to his current unit, and reset some folder/file paths for those apps. I was back home by 12noon, had a Roast Beef Sandwich & Fries Smothered in Gravy for lunch, and listened to Rush for a couple hours, and then to Jay Severin on The Blaze Radio Network. It appears that the Benghazi Hearings aren't over; more witnesses are coming forward to testify. YES!

Here my "secret" to perfectly-poached eggs, every time: the Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Poacher. 3 more units just arrived USPS today, as I'd given my last one to Dad, since he loves Poached Eggs w/ Toast in a bowl, too. If you want perfectly soft-boiled eggs in a microwave, use this unit.

The Mark Levin Show was on from 6-9pm, and I stayed-up to watch "Hannity" on Fox News, for a while. Tomorrow starts a new week here in the "Journal", and I have meetings with my financial advisor, a Jeep spring service appointment, a trip to the GC&N for a security check, and some planned garden and property, heavy-duty weeding projects at Dad's house. The weather looks nice, but we needed the past few days' rainfall.

Your TSHTF Survival

Are you truly ready for when, not if, TSHTF (The Shit Hits The Fan). And a lot of my "Journal" Readers have emailed and called me to discuss what preparations they should take for that "coming awful event". Believe me, "it" IS coming. Based upon what's happening around the world and here in the US, I have a terrible, terrible *gut feeling* that TSWHTF (The Shit Will Hit The Fan), sometime in late-2012 or in early-2013. Don't ask why; I just do.

First, Israel is preparing for war, after being attacked for years on many fronts, and not fighting back as she should have. This war will truly have "Biblical implications" around the world. The Middle East is rapidly-collapsing under the subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic riots (muslim Brotherhood) and rule ("arab Spring"), with world crude oil prices projected to hit $200+/bbl, or even higher into the $300-$400 range,

Europe is on the verge of insolvency and collapse, no thanks in great part to Germany, teetering-and-tottering Asia and South America will quickly-follow, then comes the downfall of Canada, and The USA won't be far behind, in late 2012 and into 2013. Watch this video; be sure you're sitting-down, and don't have any food or liquid in your mouth upon which to choke.

Just Google "survival" and see what comes-up. Damned-near everything you ever wanted to know how to prepare for this for-sure-coming "hellish holocaust", some of it in easy-to-download *.PDF format. Tens-of-thousands of websites are devoted to the topic of "survival". Do the same with "You Tube", and watch the thousands of videos. This is *NOT The Phony Y2K Crappola*; this is for real. I said numerous times that Y2K was a waste of time and money to prepare for, and that came true. I'm reading that "survival stores" are reporting a huge upswing in sales and preparations, and for good reason.

I'm also one of the very, very few who "predicted a 9-11 type event", 2 years and 8 months before it happened. Read down that "Journal" entry to the "Scary Stuff" section, and it was done by the subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic shit/filth/trash, NOT the US Gov't as some morons and idiots (Alex Jones & Co), have and still It's interesting you mention when an old paradigm dies and a new one takes its place. There are people who are still connected to the old one and can't conceive of life without that old paradigm. I think you saw that in the Great Depression. A lot of people never recovered from it because once that hit it was the end of their lives. claim. Need I say more about those certifiable and murderous, subhuman muslim/islamist wackos who are determined to kill all of us Proud Infidels?

Am I an "conspiracy alarmist" or one of those "crazed survivalists", sequestered in a Montana, Idaho, Utah or Wyoming compound or bunker? Not hardly; I'm simply in mid-State Pennsylvania, an Eagle Scout, Class of 1963, Order Of The Arrow/ Vigil Honor, and our BSA Motto was then, and still is now, "Be Prepared". Need I say any more?

Forget all of the "buy gold and silver" bullshit commercials; buy "brass and lead" for your guns. They're a far, far superior investment, IMO. Ammo is truly a "fungible" item; gold & silver aren't at all. They may be "intrinsic", but they're utterly-useless in a collapsing/collapsed society or world. Do the requisite research, as I've done. 'Nuff said on that subject.

BTW, how are you stocked-up for incandescent light bulbs? Within 4 weeks, manufacturing and using 100w incandescent will become "a crime", thanks to stupid-assed, liberal moron chimp, shit-for-brains, George W Bush & Co, in 2007. You'll be forced, under penalty-of-law, to use the very expensive,

dangerous and short-lived CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs). Better stock-up NOW on 60w, 75w and 100w incandescents, where and when you can find them, before they become unavailable and illegal!

This government's ***CRIMINALLY NUTS***, in trying to regulate our use of anything and everything! It's fascism, socialism, Leninism and communism, dammit, and it won't stand! Where is that in The US Constitution? The US Government isn't empowered to force us to do or buy anything, and has overstepped its legal authority in The ENUMERATED Commerce Clause. The Commerce Clause is quite specifically an enumerated power listed in the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3). The Contemporary Commerce Clause debate, When "decided by the SCOTUS in the Summer of 2012", will cause CWIII, if upheld. Stockpile NOW, because TSHTF before/during/after the November General Election!

Gold is NOT the way to go; lead and brass (aka ammo) ARE. Mark my words!

TSHTF this or next year, and members of the corrupt, criminal US Congress are helping racist, commie, lowlife scumbag Barry "Fuck America!" Obama (SAMBO-IL), by either collaborating with him or cowering before him, on his You are going to see, in metro areas, the absolute worst in humanity, as the people that are most dependent upon a collectivist system, whether they're these Occupy Well Street people, or people who are loaded up with debt, they are totally unprepared for an economic reality where their paradigm does not function. As a result they're going to go through the absolute most disgusting inhumanity that I think any American has ever seen as they go through this anger phase – and it's going to result in riots, and starvation and bloodshed. It has to happen. You don't have people's life savings disappear and people become desperate, and not have that happen. coming "Race War" plan.

We are *at war with Iran*; no doubt about it. Get used to it. And shit-for-brains, racist, commie, lowlife scumbag Barry "F•ck America!" Obama (TRAITOR-IL) has politely "asked" for our formerly Top Secret RQ-170 Sentinel Drone "to be returned". What a dumbf•ck Obama is! He should be charged, tried and imprisoned for *treason*, IMO.

I've been saying, for the past 2-3 years, that no one should buy any gold or silver; it's worthless crap if TSHTF (The Shit Hits The Fan). Instead, buy guns and ammo; they're a far, far better investment, IMO. Any questions?

Uh-oh, it's beginning to happen in Europe. Better get ready for it to come over here, soon, as The Fed f•cks America, once again. Time to abolish The Fed and its corrupt, criminal influence on America's economy!

Here's a very useful List of Barter Items, for when TSHTF. Get and stockpile those and more, if you know what's good for you and your family! Think I'm kidding? Better read this and think VERY carefully about it.

With the FBI already considering many US Citizens as "sovereign citizen extremists", are you ready for "Rex 84" & The FEMA Camps? A new bill has been introduced in the US House of Representatives called the National Emergency Centers Act or HR 645. This bill if passed into law will direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish

national emergency centers otherwise known as FEMA Camp Facilities on military installations. Some more detail on "Rex 84", right here, written by, very disappointingly, USMC Lt Col Oliver North.

"Economic chaos" ahead? You betcha. Are you and your family ready for it? It IS coming, at out current rate of out-of-control government spending.

Before TSHTF, here are 20 Lessons From The Streets of Cairo. Worth reading, if you plan to survive.

And before TSHTF, here are Innumerable Lessons From The Collapse of Bosnia, in 1992. Also worth reading, if you plan to survive.

Do you live near a "terrorism hot-spot"? Check the map. Here's DHS' recently-issued "White Paper (*.PDF)" on it, from 1970-2008, published by the University of Maryland.

Do you know what an "EMP Attack" is? Now you do. *When* it happens, not *if*, we're all f•cked, unless we're prepared to live in the early-1800s. That's why I write this stuff.

Are you ready for Obama's (TRAITOR-IL) "October Surprise"?

What about access to land and fresh water? Right here's an article to address those concerns.

Are you worried and prepared for the coming paradigm shift? How's your preparation work coming along?

The end of the dollar is coming; are you prepared for it? Here's a guide to a few canned foods.

Looks like a "race war" is coming, thanks to the hate-filled nigga race-pimps Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakan and New Black Pampers®, and time is growing shorter and shorter before TSHTF.

Don't let the possibility of DHS watching your every move deter you in preparing for TSHTF; do it regardless. Your and your Family's safety & survival always comes first. Beware of what your neighbors will do if you're prepared and they're not.

State and local resistance to the detention provisions contained in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) continues to grow, rapidly-emerging as a nationwide movement against the illegal and unconstitutional Federal Jack-Booted-Thugs' powers.

America is already being turned into a giant prison camp, and 90% of Americans either go along with it or don't see it happening. I do.

When prepping, always plan your survival purchases first on paper; buy them afterward.

Here's another good preparedness/precious metals website, 321 Gold. No, I don't believe in gold & silver, for what's coming. I believe in *lead & brass*/*food & water* for that situation; the other stuff comes much, much later.

Here's a new "warning" about a solar-based EMP event. If it happens, TSHTF.

If Iran attacks America's infrastructure, we've got major problems. Are you prepped and ready for it, when it happens?

Are you on a tight budget, in a apartment of small house? Try these link resources.

What happens to a non-Prepper? Read it at your own edification.

Good, solid Prepping information and related links? Right here.

Canned, excellent quality meats for long-term storage and use? Right here.

Obama: "Entrepreneurs Don't Build Businesses"

"Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:

"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.

It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

(Here's the video of that loony remark.)

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.

Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.

But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.

As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.

Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.

In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.

When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs. Yesterday, we learned that President Obama believes that entrepreneurs don't build businesses. Ultimately, they're irrelevant. Take that for what you will." ©Principles and Policy, July 14, 2012
