the un-american socialist dream
friday, november 8th, 2024
Kamala Harris says that “the idea of the American Dream was something that previous generations could count on. Not as much anymore.” She sounds like an astute student of the obvious. When Americans have seen their disposable income go down during her tenure at the Naval Observatory, the obvious question must be, “What makes you think that you know how to do anything about it? But more fundamentally, what is “The American Dream?”
Democrats will come up with enough BS blather that would properly dress one of Kamala’s word salads but really can’t define the phrase. All they see is that grocery carts have become the most expensive vehicles to operate and they propose price controls on the businesses with the smallest operating margins. Remember "Normal"?
Are they really trying to turn the US into Cuba? Wait. I’m sorry. Cuba’s immediate problem isn’t the empty grocery store shelves. It’s an utter failure of the power grid due to…government controls. But that’s a good thing since those coal and oil-fired power plants pollute the air with plant fertilizer—oops—carbon dioxide. But I digress.
Every politician talks about “the American Dream.” But none of them, not even Donald Trump, defines the term. So perhaps we should look to history for answers.
In 1865, Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune, famously said, “Go West, young man, and grow up with the country.” There were multiple reasons for the line, but they all revolved around economic opportunity.
Oklahomans became known as “Sooners” because when the Territory was opened to settlement at noon on April 22, 1889, the people who got to prime land “sooner” than others could claim it for their homesteading opportunity. Pioneers took the dangerous treks along the Oregon and Santa Fe trails for the same reason.
Even the third-class passengers on the Titanic were seeking opportunities. They didn’t get it, but others did. The ledger at Ellis Island lists many thousands who risked their lives so their children would have better lives.
America was known as the “land of opportunity.” Hector St. John de Crèvecœur’s 1782 book Letters from an American Farmer may have been the first influential statement of this idea. Horatio Alger’s post-Civil War novels tapped into the same idea. Even the Statue of Liberty is inscribed with soaring verse for those “yearning to breathe free.”
Free from what? The European monarchies had two primary classes of people: serfs and aristocracy. The aristocracy had great privilege and exploited it with minimal pushback. Just visit Versailles or Peterhof.
Billionaires have nothing on the royalty who built those incredible palaces on the backs of people who had difficulty feeding their families. But that’s what Kamala wants to reinstitute. She’s permanently in the aristocracy, with nothing to ever worry about. In contrast to that, America was Reagan’s shining city on the hill.
Anything, even the risk of death, was better than the abject poverty and virtual slavery of Europe. Even though the Industrial Revolution offered little with its sweatshops, squalor, and disease, while you might not have even a park bench to sleep on when you got to America, you could see the light ahead. “No Irish need apply” just meant you left New York City to find work. America was big.
America is still big. Just take an airline trip almost anywhere away from the coastal cities. America is incomprehensibly big. The potential opportunities are just as big, but the Democrat Party cannot allow you to live in a way that doesn’t need them. If you do, you won’t be feeding their aristocracy.
So, they block your independent prosperity with rules. You can’t be a hair braider without taking all sorts of classes and paying for professional and business licenses. Who does this protect? The people already in the business. Your doctor must be licensed by the state and follow rules created by the state. Who does this protect? The doctors who already have licenses. The number of incompetent doctors with state licenses is legion. We could go on with the litany of these abuses. Just visit the Institute for Justice.
Do you want to build a home? Just ask Michael and Chantell Sackett of Priest Lake, Idaho. The EPA declared that a mud puddle on their lot in a development made it a wetland subject to government regulation. They paid a mortgage on the lot from 2007 to 2023 before the Supreme Court finally shut the EPA down. Litanies of such abuses fill volumes. The power-mad Javerts of the government never suffer for the evil they inflict on the little people, so they just keep doing it.
Democrats know no boundaries. As Valerie Jarret said when Obama was elected in 2008, “We’ll be ready to rule on day one.” They truly believe that they have a divine right to rule over us. They want nothing more than the return of a monarchy, with them in positions of power. This is what they’ve been pushing from the earliest days, as exemplified by Aaron Burr’s attempt to steal the 1800 Presidential election. Evil never changes. And it always destroys.
What was the dream that led (and leads) millions to take dangerous trips to America? They all wanted a better life than what they had under the heel of the aristocracy. And Democrats are perfectly willing to impoverish American citizens to import aliens who will find American poverty more tolerable than their current states of poverty elsewhere. Most of them are willing to put up with almost anything in the hope that their hard work will make things better for their kids. They don’t realize that Democrats have no interest in that happening.
And this brings us full circle. Pilgrims, mountain men, Sooners, and all the rest understood the American Dream. They were willing to risk their lives for it. And it is the singular source of America’s vitality and strength. The American Dream is the idea that you are free to bust your butt to make a better life and not have it stolen from you by the government.
Democrats hate the American Dream. They have the Socialist (or Aristocratic or…) Dream. That’s the idea that the government should steal what you busted your butt to make so they can give it to someone who won’t get off their own butt.
Welcome to Amerika.

A Day In The Life.
Up at 8a on Friday, I went thru my finger stick to check my BSL (Blood Sugar Level) and recorded it on my Diabetes 2 chart, made coffee and breakfast, skipped the two 50mg Tramadol but took a 300mg Gabapentin for various pains, fired-up the Win-7 Pentium HP Desktop to let 32 million lines of code load, had a couple smokes in the garage and checked the leftover errands list. Today and next week are clear, so Sherry can come by at 1p today, and we can enjoy the beautiful day together.
67°, fog clearing and a blue sky, very windy day. Forecast is for 83°! Temps got to 81° yesterday, and was very warm. I'm enjoying it. I worked all morning on trying to send/receive on both my gdnctr.com and xfinity/Comvast email accounts, and finally had to get Ryley (MBIT/Spartan) to do it remotely. In 45mins, he had it fixed: gdnctr was an outgoing (SMPT server) glitch, and the xfinity/commiecast had banned my email program -- Thunderbird -- from their server, for everyone, nationwide. So I go directly to their website to send/receive. FRICKING EMAIL PROBLEMS SOLVED! Thanks Ryley and MBIT!
The true meaning of happiness? Learning how to enjoy being miserable.Sherry arrived at 2p or so, after a stop at Daughter Hollie's shop, with a new iPad for her, and we spent a couple very nice hours here, catching up on stuff. She left around 5:30, as dusk was setting-in, I had some dinner, and watched Discovery's "Gold Rush" until 1a. Lights out.
I slept in until 9:15a on Saturday, upped the heat on a nippy 48°, blue sky morning, made a new (1lb bag of "Italian House Roast") coffee and... No bueno! Can't send or receive -- more "Access Denied" crap -- dammit. I called and left a message for Ryley at MBIT, for Monday. This stuff's gotten way beyond me, at this point. After some dinner, I watched the news and Discovery's "Expedition Unknown" until 12 midnight. Lights out.
I slept-in until 9a (actually a BS 8a) on Sunday, another bright, sunny and cold 40° morning; nice day ahead. After coffee and a couple smokes in the garage, I changed the clocks to the correct time, tuned into some old [podcasts of the "CS Show", while I tried to mentally adjust to the time change; physically adjusting will take 5+ days. I made a 2nd Chemex carafe of Italian House Roast (Turkish grind) coffee, fed the bluejays (31) and squirrels (2), scanned the news and weather, and yes, email still wasn't working. Neither account had any life. It is what it is.
It's all over now, but the shouting, as the saying goes. 99.997% of everyones' minds are made-up as to whom they're voting for, provided they're voting. I have a feeling that most were decided well over a week or so. Personally, it can't come soon enough for me -- although I still have a "bad feeling" about Nov 5-6-7th -- since I'm beyond sick and tired of the incessant, unending political ads and mailings. I sure hope I'm wrong about my premonition of the evil demonKKKrats stealing the vote... again. Watch for it to happen.
Remember "Normal"?I watched the F-1 Brazilian Grand Prix in the morning, did a load of laundry, Sherry stopped by around 4p, and we had a nice time together before she left at 5:15p, as it was getting dusk. After a nice pasta dinner, Discovery's "Homestead Rescue" was on until 11p, I bagged it for the night.
Up at 8a on Monday, a sunny, cold 39° morning forecast to get to 65°. I made coffee, fired-up the computer, opened the garage and fed the various critters. After an English Muffin for breakfast, I checked the day's schedule: my usual Monday RT to points south, but with a looming 2p conference call with my WF Investment Advisors, I needed to leave early in case of construction choke points. Out the door at 11:15a, traffic was light and I made good time on the trip to Red Lion and Dallastown, and back home. Good call and strategic financial plan.
After some condo chores, I made another carafe of Italian House Roast Coffee, and since it now get dark at 5p, I gave-up on a snooze. I had a lot of paperwork from today's mail, so I started in on it. About 1/3 of the way thru, my eyes began to glaze over, and I took a long break. Email crapped out again, and I called Ryley at MBIT; he fixed it in 35-40mins. (I had my doubts that it would continue, after shutting down/restarting over night.) I watched the evening news, and History's "Ancient Aliens" until 12 midnight; lights out.
Up at 7a on Tuesday, to a cold 41°, made coffee, checked the news and weather, and tuned into the "CP Show LIVE" until 10, when I left for my polling place -- North Sherman St Fire Station -- just 5 miles west of me, here in East York. Only mildly busy and not crowded, so I was thru it quickly. Back home by 11, my Thunderbird Email had crapped out again, and delving into it, I found TWO copies of it installed and running, apparently fighting each other. I uninstalled both, called Ryley at MBIT, got a fresh copy downloaded, and installed. He checked settings and the ONE copy was working... so far. Damn, I'm sick and tired of this crap.
OK, I grabbed a short 90min nap, watched Fox for Election returns and bagged it for the night, with Trump at 232 Electoral Votes, and Kama-lama-Ding-Dong at 218, at 12:30a. It is what it is. Get ready for the riots, looting and arson. Load more mags!
Up at 7:15a on Wednesday and... I WAS WRONG! Hooooooo-Raaaaaay! TRUMP WON 277-226! THE STINKING DEMONkkkRATS' CHEATING, FRAUD AND CORRUPTION WEREN'T ENOUGH TO OVERCOME TRUMP's and AMERICA'S WIN, for the Presidency, US House and US Senate! The Trifecta, baby! This time, it feels so good to be wrong, BUT watch for the protests, riots, looting and arson. Coming soon.
The Stock Market's UP 1,200pts. Every REAL American is HAPPY that DJT won, except the poor, idiotic, scumbag, illiterate, libtard filth. F•ck the libtards! Bask in the MISERY, asswipes.
Sherry was with me from 1p to 4:30, and left as it was getting dark; we both hate the early-dark time change, and as Winter progresses, it'll get worse. I had some dinner, watched the news -- all about Trump's amazing victory -- and switched to History's "American Pickers" until 11:30a. Lights out.
Awake at 6a, I rolled over and went back to sleep until 8. Finally up, I made Italian Roast Coffee, tuned into the "CS Show" and then the "CP Show" until 11:30, and left to go to Weis Market to get a few things. Beautiful start to the day, good breeze and already at 72° by 10:30a. I stopped at the local full-service (interior/exterior) car wash, and got the Jeep a sparkling new finish for the Fall/Winter. Home with stuff by 1p, I unloaded, had some lunch and listened to the "RC Show" until 2, when I hit the LR couch for a 90min snooze.
After some dinner, I watched the news, and to avoid any more political news c rap, I switched over to the History Channel Archive and watched this season's (26th year) episodes from January. Lights out at 11p.
Tomorrow starts a new week here in the "Journal", and with another clear week, except for a Dr's app't on Friday, Sherry and I can have some extra time together.
Democrats Are Committing The Final Sin: Weaponizing People.
A major battle is brewing in a coming collision of two unstoppable forces. One side is Marxist leftist progressivism and our administrative deep state (both movements roughly 100 years old in America). The second side is Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. This battle will be triggered the day after the November 5th election and may happen no matter which candidate wins for reasons I’ll describe below.
Unfortunately, to the Democrat’s final and shameful adoption of evil, they have managed to weaponize their followers into human ammunition. While BLM and Antifa rioted during the George Floyd era, that was merely a practice run. This time is different. The leftists and administrative state understand that Trump is a true existential threat to their continued power and likely to their organizational existence, of which he plans to start a brick-by-brick dismantling.
The distinction I’m making using the term “weaponize” is one of political violence versus regular political actions.
The left has placed its followers and most Democratic voters in this panic mode by convincing them of the horrors that they claim Trump will do without any proof and ignoring that he’s already served once and did none of these things. They cannot tell you why because they are the victims of conditioning by the application of Josef Goebbels’s explanation: “A lie told once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.”
They act and respond like zombies. Similar to someone who is deathly afraid of snakes or spiders and totally loses control and freaks out inconsolably when they see one. These supporters are unreachable, and one certainly cannot even approach a discussion on Trump with them. When asked, they are incapable of telling why they hate Trump to the point of wishing him harm.
The left and the administrative state, combined with the support of the mainstream media and our governmental legal system, have fully condemned the half of the country that supports Trump as haters, Nazis, fascists, homophobes, misogynists (I could go on for 20 more). The left is expert at attaching labels to people without a drop of proof. They have managed to convince their followers that Trump is Satan incarnate, will become Hitler, and will throw his opponents in jail or have them shot (again, my list could go on).
Think of how many times we’ve heard that Trump is an “insurrections,” yet not one—not one—of the January 6 detainees have been charged with or found guilty of that charge (proof here), nor has Trump. Yet word on the street is that the left plans to misuse the 14th Amendment to prevent his taking office based on being an insurrectionist. Read that closely: Democrats plan to use an unproven or non-convicted charge of insurrection to apply the 14th Amendment to prevent his taking office. This is just one of the multitudes of lies they use to mislead their base and rile them up.
As to my initial comment that this power may be unleashed no matter who wins the election, I can see riots to stop Trump’s ascent if he wins and punishment brigades going after MAGA supporters if Harris wins. Conservatives/Trump supporters may face direct retribution by these myrmidon (here, here) zombies who will not face punishment for attacking (ala Floyd riots), with high visibility persons subject to January 6-type unending incarceration on trumped up charges. They must do this even if Trump loses, to ensure the patriots are crushed and cannot regroup for the future.
This demonstrates just how desperate the left is to stop Trump. It isn’t about losing an election. It is about losing their entire power structure, carefully crafted over the past 100 years. And ultimately punishing anyone who dares try to stop them.
