my melancholy over Tuesday's Inauguration/Coronation, was palpable and quite evident to those employees and customers who visited me, this past week. I haven't felt this bad/sad since, oh say, 9-11-2001, when we as a Nation, were under attack. And make no mistake about it: on Tuesday, January 20th, America was under attack. From "The Enemy Within™, this time". An illegal, Kenyan-Indonesian, hard-left-Marxist-socialist-commie, was sworn-in as the 44th POTUS-CiC, and the day we waved goodbye to America, made me physically-ill. This is a 'cult', which festered around Princess Diana, totally-devoid of reason and hostile to all of the available facts.

Yet, there's a definite difference. Back in 2001, we could *see* the destruction and death; now, 90% of America can't even *imagine* the horror show which lays ahead of this country. It's well-hidden and by layers of government bureaucracy and corporate greed, that it's disguised and virtually blinding to most, except to those of us who've keenly-noted the parallels of history.

On 9-11-2001, murderous, subhuman muslim-islamic filth, attacked America and slaughtered close to 3,000 innocents. On 1-20-2009, America installed a hard-left-Marxist-socialist-commie, who fully intends to nationalize almost 70% of the nation's private sector, thereby rendering it corrupted and impotent as a healthy, functioning, capitalistic system. If you own and operate your own small business, as do I, then we both can kiss it all goodbye, over the next 2-3 years. A truly sobering thought, isn't it?

Net net: the foundation and groundwork is now laid and underway for a corrupt, hard-left, socialist, collectivist administration which will make the criminal Klintoons seem like a comparative walk-in-the-park. The US Economy will be nationalized, capitalism will be smothered and personal responsibility will be a mere museum piece. The "cradle-to-grave", "womb-to-tomb" Nanny State, is underway full-speed. The parallels to Rome, the Weimar Republic, America's Great Depression ry al, are stunning.

"Brutal" doesn't even come close to describing how bad the deadly cold was, last week. On Thursday night, it was 9°F (windchill -3°F). Friday morning, at 6am, it was 5°F (windchill -18°F). Temps on Friday didn't even make it past 14°F, so I stayed inside at the GC&N Complex, instead of taking my usual 15 or 20 minute walk around the grounds. I put an additional 30lbs of birdseed out. The two 150gal water holding tanks and pipes in the Pump House, were semi-frozen when I arrived Friday morning, so I turned-up the baseboard electric heater to 60°F and connected the two heat lamps onto the pipes, on the northwest wall. Within 45mins, water was flowing a little more freely, but was still sluggish. At 11°F, there's not much more I can do until temps change. The Main GHs water garden is freezing-up, and I have to clear ice every few hours from the surface, so the Koi don't suffocate. I found a floating heater and put it into the water garden until the weather warms-up, and the existing bio-filter thaws-out and I can get the waterfall working again. Arthur was in on Saturday morning, to help me repair the Main GH's water garden, and get the falls running again. We cleared the ice off of the two pond surfaces, installed a floating heater, and brought-in another pumps to sub for the two with the frozen water lines. When temps get back to normalcy in a week or so, and the lines thaw-out, I can switch back to the original two 1200 GPH pumps.

Each week, I'm reading about more and more area businesses who are either shedding jobs, or just plain going out-of-business. This furniture store is closing 3 locations, for good. This industrial research facility is permanently shedding 10% of its 450 workers. Another 400 jobs are gone here, due to a large cabinetmaker's entire operation going under. Another 100 of 825 jobs at this company, are gone, in neighboring Lancaster. This electronics company is letting 350-450 people go, and closing its 2 area plants. This printing company has just laid-off 35 employees. And a medium-sized, local area hospital is cutting its workforce by 53 people. Nationwide, Circuit City's 35,000 workers are losing their jobs, too. And it's fully-nationwide, impacting countless large and small companies. Still, I'm optimistic about my company's future. But I don't foresee either the national and local economy shifting back into a "bull market mentality" until the 3rd or 4th quarters of 2009. The 4th quarter will be too late for my seasonal business. I have to "make it" in the 2nd, 3rd & 4th qtrs, or I'm SOL.

Saturday was more of the same brutally-cold weather. At 6am, it was 1°F (windchill -5°F) and I reminded myself how "darned smart" I am to keep my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (108,556-miles) in the heated garage, overnight, especially during the Winter months. I can they don't clean-out their garages, put the stuff down in the basement for the Winter months, and park the cars inside. Just common sense, to my way of thinking. It didn't get above 15°F, all day.

By contrast Sunday, with its 29°F temps and occasional flurries all day, was like a "tropical heat wave", as compared to the previous 3-4 days of biter, brutal cold, here, sans snow. I went food shopping around 1pm, and then down to the office for 2hrs to finish clean-up of the Main GH's water garden area, which Arthur & I'd worked on Saturday, to get de-iced so the Koi wouldn't suffocate, and tried unsuccessfully to get its water lines unfrozen. That'll have to wait until warmer temps arrive. The food store was packed with people buying snacks and party platter for Sunday's "football playoffs", about which I could give a flying rat's ass. They just made the checkout lines 80% longer for us normal folks, who don't watch/participate in that inane, dumbass, crap/bullshit, IMO. At the office, after I was finished cleaning-up the Main GH, I worked on my office machine's health, with Norton 360, and set-up the scans/fixes/notifications, swept the office, emptied the garbage, reloaded the bathroom's TP and paper towels, cleaned the bathroom's sink, wiped-down the inactive front counter's dust, reloaded the fax and copy machines' paper, ran Adaware2008 and Norton SystemWorks 2007's WinDoc/defrag/optimize in both front counter computers and in my office's RAID 0 machine, fed the birds, cleaned-out the office's 'fridge, brought dishes/flatware home to wash — "boss jobs" — had lunch, and left. There's plenty of ad copy/billboard copy etc *.pdf files to check/correct/approve from my marketing firm, plus a ton of other paperwork to keep me busy all of this coming week, and then some. Plus sweep-out the Retail Bldg and Main GH. No, I don't have paid-cleaning crews or employees to do those (and many more) jobs. During the Winter months, it's just "Me, Myself & I" doing the work.

A medium-large snowstorm hit this area on Monday morning, giving us our first appreciable snowfall, this Winter. It moved into the area around 11:30am, and snowed heavily off-and-on for the next 3-4 hours, giving us just under 3" of snow. Wooo-hooo! Dad and Jennifer were in the Center until 1pm, and she bailed to get home before the roads got bad; then Dad and I left around 1:45pm, as the untreated roads were getting nasty. Driving home was a bit dicey, since there were many idiots who didn't slow down and drive for the present conditions. Spin-outs and fender-benders everywhere. They're my worst fear in a wet or snowy road condition. IMO, they should stay-the- hell-home, on days like this! Road hazards, all of them.

Although we got >3" of snow in East York, when I got into work at 10am on Tuesday, we'd gotten barely 1" and it wasn't worth firing-up the JD 317 or 675B SkidLoaders, or wasting the diesel fuel to clear the driveways & parking lots. Or even calling-in Arthur to help plow & shovel. By late Wednesday/early Thursday, it'd be melted anyway. No, I didn't listen or watch the coronation crap in Washington. I had work to do. Although bright and sunny, temps didn't make it above 19°F and with a 20mph wind, the windchill was around 0°F.

About 10 days ago, I was hit at work with 2 business-relate email scams, which if I'd followed through with them and completed my part of the agreement, could have wound-up costing me close to $9,500. Both were anonymous emailers, with Yahoo accounts, sending me *firm product orders* and (stolen, as it turns out) MasterCard CC numbers, to pay for the merchandise. One person was going to send a truck for the Holland Driveway Pavers, pick them up at my GC&N Center, drive-off and, when the CC's owner found the bogus charges on his/her card(s), dispute the charges for product they didn't receive, and I would have been stuck for the bill to my vendor/supplier. The other was supposedly an "American living in Belgium", who ordered 12 of everything on my "Products & Services" pages, would pay for the order with the stolen card(s), had me ship the order overseas, and again, when the cards' actual owner discovered the charges for product which they didn't receive, dispute the purchase/charge, and once again, I'd be out all the costs/profits. As a result, I will only take certified checks for email orders and ship any purchases after the check has cleared my bank. First time in 19 years, and I'm sure those won't be the end of it.

Right now, I'm dealing with the "Card Check/ Employee Free Choice Act" — a commie-socialist-Marxist-union bill — which will take control of my business from me, and give it to the corrupt, criminal liberal-demokkkRAT labor unions. I'd rather go into Chapter 11, than allow that to happen! I'm now "huddling" with my Dad and Marc Roberts, my Corp Atty, to decide what to do.

James, my Key Staff Coporate LSCP Designer, was in on Wednesday, to chat and help me with a new Logitech Z-680 Speaker System installation for my office system, but we're going to need some add'l products, and he's volunteered to get the right plugs and wire, before we start the installation. I hate getting into a project, only to discover that "we're missing some pieces", and have to stop the work, even for a while. I'll bring that now-not-needed Logitech 5.1 (5-spkr surround) system home to replace the subwoofer-4spkr system, which I currently have.

Thursday was a heat wave! 41°F and the >1" of remaining snow, melted quickly. Jennifer was in to water the GHs, but we had a broken PVC pipe in GH2, which Alan repaired quickly. I had two meetings with ad space reps, and another with a lady from the AAUW, who wanted a JSGC&N $25 Gift Certificate, for one of their events. I spent 2hrs cleaning-out various cupboards and filing cabinets, updating a few of the 37 forms in *.doc format, and adding to the list of the documents and handouts, which we'll need for 2009. I've now got a 2-pg list of tasks to get done, here. Time to get started.

You may already have Century Gothic on your Windows-XP machine, and that's almost always used for the body copy or subheads, so grab it, if you don't already have it; you're reading it now. They're free from my website. Grab 'em! Save them to your HD, and install to C:/Windows/Fonts (folder), thru your WIN XP Control Panel > Fonts > File > Install New Font. Simple stuff; just takes a few minutes.

We didn't cause the recent Global Warming and we cannot stop it. Solar Activity appears to be the principal driver for Climate Change. China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever". In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years. So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerized temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-skeptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running. "I think it's a threat, and I think global warming is occurring," Beebe said in response to a caller to his statewide radio program who said he believed the climate change crisis was a "hoax." Idiot. Stupid idiot. Global warming is bullshit!

Stuff That People Write on Money.

Money talks, sure. But when money is inscribed and then let loose into the world, what it has to say doesn't make a lot of sense. And yet, people continue to write on their hard-earned cash and send those messages back into circulation. Gamblers scribble down lottery numbers, shoppers record prices, and at least one person who lacked a spare piece of paper has jotted down notes about lots (a parking spot, maybe?). What the US Treasury thinks of all this communication, I have no idea. But it doesn't stop there. The green backs passing through your wallet may bear political jibes, ominous warnings, re-styled presidents, or requests for action. Comply as you wish. As for the faction advocating nothing less than liberation of the werewolves, surely there's a more effective means of getting the message out. On the other hand, it does inject the ATM experience with a heightened sense of drama. What will the money say next?
